Most people commenting don't understand that when you have a position running in deep profit you close some partial and enter the profit in the hedge so you aren't scared of losing. Each new position cover the previous one and can possibly turn into big swing trades instead of hedge (you normally take 50% out at 2:1 and let the rest run. The first position is the only money from your pocket directly at risk, after that its just trade management and risk management (what most trader lack). Great video explaining well the concept!

I think it’s better not to move the stop loss because otherwise you will be getting stooped out a lot and not allowing the trade room to breathe. Have a 1:3 risk to reward ratio and with 2 trades you end up with 1:2 risk to reward profit

Hello mate, I’m not quite sure what you mean, it’s quite confusing unless you go to trade it and then you’ll be like “ohhh”, when you have a trade running man and it’s at least 100 pips or so, say you’re long but a short position represents itself, you can take the short but also keep the long trade active (stop loss to break even so it’s risk free). And then you can take the next step from there judging by what it does, if the short starts going in your favour (at least 20 pips) you can close the long if you wanted to and then put your short risk free; or say if the short hit stop loss, technically you wouldn’t lose anything because you would of made more money on the long so it’s kind of a win win, the worst case scenario is you get stopped out on the short (long covers the loss) best case scenario the short starts going in your favour, then you can judge by price action whether you want to close the long once your short is risk free, or take 20/30 pips profit on the short and then let the long still carry on running if it’s a longer - term trade. I hope that isn’t too confusing mate lol there’s a few different decisions you have to make judging by the trade with price action / fundamentals but yeah give it a go next time you’re in a good trade! (Only if there’s an actual setup going the other way that fits your plan!) thanks man and good luck

Hey so I have a couple quick question about hedging. - Say you are trading EUR/USD and you want to place a hedge order, can you play that hedge on USD/EUR or do you have to use a different currency pair. - Another question is if you have to use a different pair would it be better to just have a Brokerage Account with two separate Brokerages logged into two separate charts on TradingView so that you can hedge using the same currency.

@wakawaka_comedian
@wakawaka_comedian 2 күн бұрын
That's exactly what I did, I don't use TP or SL when I hedge, I know I can't lose anything asides the spread amount which is usually negligible. When I see the trade moving comfortably in the opposite direction, I can manually stop the other side of the trade so I stop losing money while the profit runs up! Setting SL can kill any side of the hedge cos we all know that the market reverses FAST in mysterious ways before you can click anything. Second thing I do is to open multiple positions in the direction the trade went That way, even if I my SL is running in the negative of -10 maybe , my TP will be running in positive of +25

How is this not a break even or simply a lock in on initial profit made from position 1? If you spend profit to open position 2, and stock trades down, then you are losing on position 1 at the same rate you are gaining on the position 2 short. I don’t understand how this can make you more profit than if you simply sold position 1 to pocket the profit when the RATE of gain from position 2 is Danes as rate of loss from position 1.

@tradingcold4463
@tradingcold4463 3 жыл бұрын
Nice one man, firstly.. well done on catching that trade, it all depends tbh man, how are the fundamentals Playing in your favour? We had weak German data this morning which has helped the EUR weakness, but we also have more in the morning. But from a day trading perspective, if you see more downside on this from your view I would just keep the trade running, maybe take 25% off your position off to remove psychological emotions. As regards to hedging, I wouldn’t just hedge for the sake of it, only if a long represent itself that fits your plan! So, if a long represents itself, I’d keep the long executed, maybe take 25% as I said, and then also execute the long. If the long starts going into profit, 20/30 pips, you can cover your risk on that long trade. And you can either take off the short and bank the profits, or leave the short on if you feel like this long move is just a retracement for more further downside. So there’s a couple ways to do it man, only you know the the decision based on how the technicals look your end. Sorry if it sounds a little confuse, but hope that can help you a little bit 🙏🏼 tco

Try this put a long and short position on close to each other with no stop loss. The hedge is the stop loss. When your analysis shows you a certain direction you exit one and let the other keep going. There's alot of advance things you have to consider to make the run more effective like find high or low of day for day trading or week for swinging. Its essentially giving you 50/50 odds of choosing direction. You will save alot of stress and losses. you welcome 🙏 one more tide bit you can put on small size and when you see the direction clearly add to the size, then you will be playing like the big boys

I guess you have 2 options, close the hedge with a small loss and let the original trade ride to profits, the other option is to close both of them at the same time and you will win because if your hedge has the same lot size as the first trade they just cancel each other out, you won't make more or lose until you close one.

Hi mate, so it kind of depends how you trade, I’m a day trader / swing trader, I’ll aim for 30 - 100+ pips per trade depending on what the chart tells me. Say my TP is 30 pips for one specific trade, instead of full tp’ing at 30 pips, close 90% of it for example then leave that 10% running without a take profit, this is your runner. You then wait for a sell setup which fits your strategy, and you use this running position to take the sell, this sell setup could be another 200 pips away, so just think how much your little runner would of built up, you can essentially take this sell risk free now because you have that runner

Say you’ve a swing trade running, and it’s 100+ pips long, and a short position represents itself right..why not just hold that long, that way if you get stopped out on the short you still make money on the long and cover the loss? Or if the short start going your way you can then cover your risk, and then you have a long swing trade, and a new short trade running and 0 risk on the table. In this position you do not care if the market goes up or down, you make money either way.
@tradingcold4463
@tradingcold4463 3 жыл бұрын
Maybe I haven't done so well on explaining it in the video, I apologise for that. The thing is, if you're 100 pips in profit, the market will have to retrace at some point to continue moving higher. So let's say the market retraces 30/50pips, why not try and capitalise on that retracement, as well as keeping the long active. Once you're in profit on the short you can cover your risk and then you're risk free on both. So your original long trade, say you took all profit and went short, and you get stopped out on the short. You've missed out on potential pips from the long, and taken a loss on the short. If you had just kept the long on, you cover the short risk, yes the long trade will start losing money, but that's why I say to make sure the long is 100+ pips in profit first, because it's unlikely the retracement will be more than this. Hope that makes a bit more sense.

Hey buddy, so I’ve changed my strategy a little, as you mentioned the markets have changed a little, so got to adapt, and as for the hedging bro, I only trade currencies, and I would make sure my first position was risk free (stop loss at break-even) before I took a second position to keep my risk down. I’m going to be doing a video tomorrow, and here you will see my new strategy, it’s still similar but a few things have changed, be great if you could check in on that. For hedging mate keep to the same currency, and make sure you’re in a decent amount of profit on your first position before even thinking about taking a second, as you do not want to be over leveraging yourself.

Sure bro iam waiting for your new stratergies. I want to know if imagine i take a long position in futures and make my stoploss to breakeven. And after that if market takes a pullback and i enter a short postion like scalping the pullback and exit when i see market is bullish by this i will make profit in both sides with a significant amount just need a setup which can give best entry and exit points for my scalping and by doing so..i will always be in the market with my long position and will make double profits with my scalps in pullbacks. And even if my sell position is wrong i will still be in a neutral zone. Do you think it makes sence and i should try this stratergy as iam still working on its pros and cons.. ?? Yeah bro, that’s exactly how hedging works man, you’ve hit the nail on the hedge! And yeah like I said getting good entries comes with time, I wouldn’t stress so much if you’re just starting out, they will get better with time! With my new way of trading, like I said I’m just using pending orders, so I don’t need any candlestick confirmations to enter the trade, which is great because it takes out a lot of the psychological emotions ! But yeah keep going with it, try the hedging technique next time you’re in profit if you see the market’s going to retrace against you, and the good entries will come! 🙏🏼

But why wouldn't you just close it after the first position makes profit if its going to wipe one of them out?
@tradingcold4463
@tradingcold4463 3 жыл бұрын
Sure, but let's say you're long, 100pips or so and a short position prevents itself. You take a short trade, why not just keep your long trade on, that way if the short goes against you, the long makes profit and covers your loss. It's a win win once you're risk free on both sides of the market. My style is more swing trading so it makes sense, I can understand taking profits on the first trade if you're day trading. Hope that makes sense

Because as the trade is protected by your initial winner, you can indeed use a higher risk free lotagge on the second trade.

Yeah mate when I’m swing trading and I see the opportunity to do so! I’ve been intraday trading as of recently though, but it still works! A lot of fundamentals lately so can catch a good amount of pips within a day and then hedge like a normal swing so it’s still pretty good !

Sorry but this doesn't work, this is not a good way to hedge. I have developed hedging EAs from scratch and under the right trading conditions you can guarantee a profit or at least a breakeven trade in most cases. Hedging a trade that is already 100 pips in profit when an opposing signal presents itself makes no sense. Just bank the winning trade at full profit and take the opposing trade using a portion of the profit from the trade you just won. This effectively makes trade 2 risk free. Newbie traders be careful when searching for strategies on KZbin, most don't work - including this one.

This one works with my strategy. Here, take whatever your TP is, close 90% of it, leave 10% running, what’s the harm in this? Don’t have a TP for it. Then when you see a counter trade you can use that runner that’s built up to take a risk free counter. You should try it before doubting it. I day trade and look for 30/50 pips a day and it works so well with this. You’d be surprised how much the runners build up. Have a great weekend

Yeah you still can, but why not leave just 10% open without a TP to let compound overtime? You can use that little runner then to take a counter trade if one arises. Very powerful technique. Try it

Yeah try it man, just say you’re in a buy, and you hit your TP right? Well instead of closing all your position, close 80% and leave 20% running, put SL to BE. Then just let it run up to your next buy, say your next buy is 150 pips away that extra money you would of made from your 20% runner will allow you to take that short risk free, you could even risk half of what you have running and if the short stops out close out half of the position to cover for it, may sound confusing but just backtestit mate

@@tradingcold4463 now I can see more, right, like this, will try many times, thank you. also I have one method, lets say I sell gold at 1800 with 1 lot till 1790 but it gets to 1809, you add another sell at 1809/1810 and still goes up, create a pending buy order with close entry at 1815 maximum with both of the previous lots cumulated, at this pending buy order either look untill profit or auto take profit, then let it drop, what do you think ?!
@tradingcold4463
@tradingcold4463 2 жыл бұрын
Hmm not sure how that’ll work mate, if your trade gets stopped out there is no hedge, you can only hedge when you have a winning trade to get the most out of it bro. If you lose a trade move onto the next, this method is just to milk your winning trades and occasionally allow you to take risk free trades
