Hedging is to keep both of the positions , while one is in losses, the other one is in profit, take profit where it will start to change direction and your losses decreases or possible you also profit.

Also hedging will not cost you much, you use the same amount that is already in the market. If I have 100 dollars, I opened a position worth 100 dollars, I can open a second position without needing extra money to add to the account

if you hedge the NFP on both side you will not get filled with the price you want in most cases. most likely you order will be filled only after the price jump 20 pipes away. Slippage will definitely kill you.

although you can get burned on both sides,, if you are quick and disciplined in setting "stop orders", you can try to at least break even on your losing trades by going the opposite direction. you can then take off your trades and "cool off" and re-evaluate. It's just a good way to trade with a "seat belt", so that you can capture the opposite move against you

Can work great for very narrow ranging situations where the breakout can be up OR down. Have your Buy at the top of the channel and your Sell at the Bottom of the channel.

exactly at this heigth you are more in a reversal trade mean that you invalidate your plan and change your trading idea a hedge would be on a spot market buy at the same price or even before to get better gains then have the real asset to back your bet you can use a lot of vareaty of trick to do the equivalent but thats not a hedge

@naser manoo More often than not, you'll be stopped out, enter a new position going the other direction, and then it'll reverse & you'll lose on that position as well. This isn't a hedge. It's a way to lose more money with unpredictable markets.

Can i also bet it goes down and up at the same time ? 5 % take profit and - 4 % stop loss staked for up and down. This way if it goes up 5 % i take 5 % profit from my up prediction minus 4% from my down prediction and second bet reversed. This way i just wait and im up 1% no matter where it goes... or am i missing something ?

Hello this strategy does sound interesting. Can I ask a couple of questions? 1) if my first trade hits profit would you then go into your orders and delete the pending order or let it open eventually? 2) how many pips different to your entry would you suggest for your stop loss and your take profit? I am new to trading so would appreciate any advice you have. Thanks.

1. I close the other order after it has hit profit 2. I would always say that your target profit should be greater than your potential loss, so in the long run you will still make money even if you lose 50% of your trades etc, however it is all up to preference and strategy

Hi thank you for your response. Just to be clear if for example my first Sell order hits profit would it then not make sense to go into my pending orders and delete the Buy order? I think you were saying we only need the order in the opposite direction as a backup, so if our first order hits then is there any need for the second order? Or do you keep it so it opens eventually when the market turns. Sorry just wasn’t sure if I am understanding you correctly

big guys shake you out from those both trades in seconds because they know what you are doing. I guess there is nothing better than a tight stop loss, even you are stopped out 3 -4 times with a tiny stop loss on re-entering, you will still catch that big move and cover your tiny losses with good profit.
