About the beighton score! I have hEDS and only have a score of 5! However there are so many other joints that sublux which aren't included! Even my ribs are hypermobile.. recently learned that there are tiny joints in the ribs!

I was diagnosed with HSD as a pre-teen but they didn't even mention it could be hEDS or that hEDS even existed never mind that it could impact my quality of life - we just thought it was a flexibility thing. I was finally diagnosed with hEDS at 22 and we can trace it all the back in my family now. I think the big difference tends to be the genetic link - its very uncommon to have hEDS without it being in your family (although it could be undiagnosed)

I have POTS, Gastroparesis, MCAS, IBS, temperature regulation disfunction, extreme bruising, bad vision, 8 out of 9 on beighton (lost the ability to do the floor thing), years long chronic pain, frequent subluxations and dislocations, long fingers, a hypermobile familyand overwhelming fatigue. All sounding like EDS, right? Nope, I got diagnosed with HSD. But guess what? !!The REAL difference between the two is that EDS patients get insurance coverage for treatment and management while HSD patients do not.!!

I've been going to physio for hip pain and they helped me realise that I'm hypermobile.. and then I realised I can pass the heds requirements D: Doing a bit of research and hoping to figure out how to talk to a doc in Canada about this! Thank you for doing the things! I was told to research HSD and POTs (and even hEDS) by my doc to see if these things fit me. I definitely have more musculoskeletal issues and probably don’t have a high enough Beighton score for hEDS anyway. But the validation! Treatment! The assurance that things are just not right! Oh its amazing and I’m so glad I found your channel.

I can sort of relate to that as I just pass the Beighton score for hEDS but the other criterias is where it is uncertain if I would pass those as well and I was that if I would not have hEDS (and I might quite likely have) Then I would certaily have HSD

i was told today that the tendonitis i deal with can also maybe be attributed to hsd and told to do some research on it, im so pleased to find that a lot of seemingly disconnected problems make sense and im learning how to help them

Finally got confirmed as officially passing the beighten score (my physical therapist almost went off the child score and i was quite stiff that day so i got 5/9, glad i remember the numbers because i had to correct her in order to avoid misdiagnosis there) it's a step in the right direction! Now after six weeks of physical therapy I can try to get another referral to rheumatology (they denied the first one but my doc suspected they would because it's hard to get it) Ready for the day I'll finally get a diagnosis!

I was also provisionally diagnosed with HSD Without being told about it because the doctor I was seeing did not have expertise to diagnose EDS So I was sent to a PT Who told me that I likely have EDS So he is helping me with the process of being evaluated for EDS

This video really made me feel a whole lot better because I am worried if I get an HSD Diagnosis instead of an EDS Diagnosis, then I worry that I won't be able to get mobility aids or be taken seriously. But after seeing this video I am a bit less worried :)

It doesn’t mean anything :) 20% of the whole population have some sort of hypermobility and it only causes problems for 2%
