wrestlingspremier , you mention there are some heel turns no one asked for. ok to be fair some didn't but I'm sure some fans did ask for it or enjoyed it when it happen......I know as a fan there were some wrestlers over the years that turned heel and I enjoyed it........saying something happen that no one asked for is just wrong. it makes it sound as if you speak for the entire Wrestling Universe and you don't.

The Austin 2001 heel turn was actually perfectly executed. It was just his run as a villain that completely backfired. We got the 2 Man Power Trip, some of the most underrated matches of Stone Cold's career and saw a new side to him. The only thing that didn't make sense was Austin being the leader of the Alliance. They should've hired Goldberg for it!

The problem was the timing and so logical not to mention the audience didn't want to boo Austin.

With the rock taking time off to shoot a movie there was nobody to take that top babyface spot. Also since it was a no DQ match anyway why did Austin need the help of Vince? The timing and actual reasoning behind the turn just made no sense, nobody was gonna boo Austin at that time especially not in his home state.

Jesus, that Braun Strowman heel turn in 2018 still pisses me off. In a year where most of RAW absolutely sucked Braun Strowman was one of the highlights. He had an entire episode of RAW focused on him getting fired and destroying shit. He won the Raw Tag titles with a literal child and people ate it up. That's how over he was. Then all of a sudden he fucking turns heel. The guy who if he wanted to could flip a goddamn semi truck suddenly needed cronies.

*There are various reasons why Stone Cold’s heel turn in 2001 was just so pitiful* - It marked beginning the end of the Attitude Era - It didn’t make sense for him to team up with Triple H and Vince McMahon who were his biggest enemies during that time - As a heel he didn’t really have credible babyface opponents with the exception of The Undertaker - The timing was just downright awful - the fans just didn’t wanna hate Austin - It created the worst chant in wrestling history that still drags on to this very day “what?”

Heel turns when done right, can lead to exciting new stories, and can help the respective wrestler grow their star even bigger. But when they botch them, it makes you wonder why the company is messing with us fans, and can lead to very stupid programs.

Heel turns not on this list I also think were not needed: Matt in 2009, Shad in 2010, Cora in 2022, Edge's heel turn in 2010, Anyone that joined the Aces & Eights, Miz awkward heel turn in late 2013 that lasted like a month. Sheamus in 2015, Titus in 2014, Brock in 2023 due to how it ended.

The company spent loads of money of trying to bring in the company but by the time he arrived, they automatically dropped the ball with him which is absurd, considering the fact that he was coming off the infamous Montreal screwjob. Sure he would’ve become world champion by 1999 but at that point he was damaged beyond repair in terms of his booking and by the time that happened his career would abruptly ended from the Infamous kicked from Goldberg. I know I’m in the minority but I feel that Austin’s heel run is underrated. The heel turn itself was terrible mostly because of the timing, the end of the Monday Night Wars, Rock leaving for Hollywood, and the fact there wasn’t a babyface in the company that was on the same level of popularity of Austin and Rock. As far as the heel run itself, it’s extremely underrated and is a lot better than most people remember. I feel like a lot of people (not everyone) get hung up on Austin’s opinion on his heel run just because Austin said it, but if u go back and rewatch his run it’s a lot better than how u remember it being. While it was kinda jarring seeing Austin act like a chicken shit and run away from a fight, he also did have a more vicious and despicable side to his heel character, like beating up JR, beating up Lita with a chair, beating up Micheal Cole, doing the piledriver on Angle on the exposed floor, etc. I feel Austin did a great job of balancing the chicken shit persona, his comedic persona, and his more vicious persona of his heel character. In short, the heel turn was bad, but the actual run itself was gold and extremely underrated.

Heel cole was legendary bro. Sure maybe the match with him and Jerry Lawler shouldn't have been at Mania, but he was the most entertaining heel in the early 2010s. Especially when he was on commentary during season 3 of NXT.

If they want an effective heel turn, make sure they are gain organic heat from the fans. Otherwise like Becky's case the fans won't turn on her and in Braun's case ruin any momentum they gained as a face.

Nah, CM Punk’s heel turn in 2012 was good. His clearance bin version of the Austin/McMahon feud with Laurinitis sucked, like almost everything else he did after the pipe bomb. I know the product sucks now, but people need to stop romanticizing raw from over a decade ago. It sucked as much as it does today.
