The Western Somali Liberation Front (Somali: Jabhadda Xoreynta Somali Galbeed; abbreviated WSLF) was a separatist rebel group fighting in eastern Ethiopia to create an independent state. It played a major role in the Ogaden War of 1977-78 assisting the invading Somali Army.

But its not too late to dream my Somali brothers and sisters regardless of our clan identity. Walahi that was a beautiful gold and we should still try and achieve this political ideology. Don't tell the lies there is no what you call WSLF it was a somali regular army from all somali regions, just they changed the uniform, but the people live in the area pay a high price no doubt about it

The Somali regular army you are talking about had been forcibly recruited through the compulsory recruitment schemes. We call it RAAF. They committed heinous crimes in the Ogaden. By the way 15 years earlier the Oromo and the Ogadeni had been lobbying for this war unlike the locals who spoke Italian smoking and drinking coffee sitting and chatting away. The RAAF raised huge draft for Somalia. These songs were conjured up by men and women of Ogadeni and the Northern Somaliland somalis. The South and the Southwestern were collateral participants not having the motivation and the desire to participate. The total somali army 150k, 90k of them were from the DDS, some in the regular somali army uniform and the majority had no uniform at all.
