For those that wanted to know, the dimensions of the battery compartment (between nose and the 1st spar) are roughly 8cm wide, 6.5cm deep and 18cm long. To hit CG you ideally want a battery that weighs around 600 - 700g

Great overview. The removable nose is a nifty idea. I would like to see a bit of gap on sides, or top to allow air to exit at the junction. This could be easily me made an optional feature by including a second set of screw hole locations on the wood attachment. (if the gap lip was beveled vs. at right angle, ti would make the gap less noticeable and help keeps grass, soil from entering on the bottom) With an elongated gap on both sides, it wouldn't need to be wide, just 1-2mm would allow lots of air to escape, eliminating the need for the fan. The flaps are drag flaps, they're not going to increase lift that much, except when in ground effect. Will be helpful in slowing and steepening approaches to land. This style of flaps can be used speed limiting in dives. This could be a nice feature if mountain, or cliff surfing. To me the rudder seems more complicated than it needs to be. (extra custom pieces, and added weight) It appears rudder is thick enough to include a servo internal, like was done with ailerons on the wings. This would reduce drag from the air gap as well. It's so nice to see a manufacture taking the time to gather feedback from the community before releasing a new plane. It looks to be a good design that is likely to become popular.
@gizfpv Жыл бұрын
I actually did my first flight with the T2 yesterday, and found the flaps increased lift a lot. Was actually surprised at how long the aircraft would glide for with motors off/flaps down. It glided better than some gliders I've owned lol. Yeah I initially felt like there needed to be a air exhaust somewhere on the nose (think I said it in the video somewhere) however actually, with the fan now installed, it seems to work great. Have left the aircraft powered on on the bench for 15-20 minutes on multiple occasions and not once had a vtx overheat warning. Also had no issues in flight, fan kept vtx perfectly cool without a air exhaust.

I crashed my T1 with the nose against a steel pole at ~80km/h last week . The crash was hard enough to shift the actual 18650 cells in their wrapping.... When that happens you know it is bad. However, damage was three tears in the fuselage that were easily repaired with a bit of glue, a broken (3dprinted) battery plate and a destroyed camera in the nose. That was all. I was deeply impressed; something like an ARWing would have been reduced to a litter bag full of foam pieces in a similar crash. This new T2 is a bit larger (so hopefully more stable in wind than the T1), has a rudder, has flaps. Really interested in this plane if it retains most of the agility and durability of the T1. Any idea when Heewing plans to have the kit version in store?

Really cool design tweak over the t1. I'm having a hard time seeing who this is for, not enough cargo room for mapping gear. It would be a inexpensive commercial drone if it had a bit more room. I see a lot price complaints but as someone who is not a fixed wing expert, I don't really get it. $339 US shipped for that big T2 doesn't seem bad at all, considering the gray T1 ranger PNP Pro is $169.00. I guess am ignorant about what other options there are, so what would people recommend over this at this size/class? It looks like it has a lot of interesting features, maybe all of that drove up the price?
@WinstonSmith1984 Жыл бұрын
The tail boom idea is good but they should've added more pins to the tail boom connector for LEDs, tail camera, tail receiver, or whatever. Also for the wings: more than 4 extra pins would've been nice. The split flaps should've been made wider so that they are in the full air flow of the propellors: that'll reduce the landing speed a lot more. Shorter ailerons will still be very effective. A removable tail wheel and a springy main gear would be nice. I hope they take all good ideas and develop another T1 version of the same or similar size as the original.

The best news in my book is the rudder, it means I can use a landing gear for the maiden and not have to hand launch the plane until it has been flight proven and trimmed. Hand launched maidens is the only thing I truly hate in this hobby, they are the perfect recipe for reinventing the cartwheel. BTW, when the whole fin moves, I think it's called a 'full flying rudder'. Not sure I love the detachable boom, though. This is still a rather small plane by most standards, it shouldn't need disassembly for transport. In my opinion, the boom connections just add two unnecessary failure points. But I can absolutely live with that. Thanks for unveiling this long awaited gem!

OK I drive a shooting brake, so I'll keep quiet. But could we ask you to mention two details later? That fan is unnecessary with the air vents next to the camera. I installed my Caddx Vista directly behind the camera in the T1 and it get's enough cooling as is and I run it at 700mw. I made sure that it doesn't sit flat so that air flows below it too. The only exception is if you leave it on while not flying. For that reason I installed a switch.

I did not see anything that could worth $300 price mark UPD watched until the tail part. So indeed Heewing has proven to be quite creative with connectors and this is really great -- more new ideas, innovations and improvements the better. 1) Split flap is interesting idea, though i'd say its usefullness is questionable. 2) Rotating rudder is something special. Yeah I like this plane overall. I really think 1200-1250mm is the sweet spot for a larger fpv plane without it having to ship from China in an oversized box causing the price of shipping to be as much as the plane itself. I have a lot of cons though. 1 Too high a price. I can get a Reptile Tech Dragon v2 pnp for less. 2 Why 6s setup?? Most planes this size run on 4s. I can’t really find too many 6s Lion packs. Will have to build one. 3 No bay for an HD camera like a Hero 11 etc. 4 Just feels like a bigger t1 without too many new features. Pros…1 Seems to disassemble quickly for easy storage or carrying to a remote field. 2 Foam seems to be strong. 3 Separate bays for the fpv gear, gps, and rx with enough pin outs in the wing joints. Overall I’ll pass on this model. My Dragon v2 pretty much does what this plane is doing for a lower overall price.

For me the biggest pro is the quick and easy disassembly. I typically avoid aircraft of this size or larger, because they're just a pain to fit in my car. Usually needs tools to take apart and put back together and its just hassle. This thing though, comes apart in 20 seconds! Takes same amount of time to put back together. I love that I was looking the the nose section last night and thinking about Gopro's actually. I reckon you'd get a Gopro in the nose section quite easily, it's big enough. Would obviously need to cut some foam from the front for the lens, but it would be doable. I wonder if Heewing will bring out a modified nose at some point as a optional extra? @@FpvBerget Nobody NEEDS to carry 20ah. If you make the plane more efficient instead of a flying boat, you need much less capacity.
