As always, thanks for sharing. Can you tell me what your source is? Pardon my ignorance, but would it be more beneficial to have a quality source with a built in quality DAC versus separates (less breaks in the signal chain)? I'm trying to understand the utility of these higher end components as I'm realitively new to this.

you can have resolution and fullness of sound, but hegel seems to lack comparing to the other. the fullness could maybe be controled with a more bold or mellow amp, vt-200 must of been good, especially if you put transistor preamp with it, the pass lab x-0 3 pieces preamp was outstanding with the vt-200. with Nirvana sx-ltd interconnects and cardas golden cross speaker wires. maybe to bold for some (like me) but still outstanding dynamics and warmth...

Thomas, I need an advice, what dac do you recomend for active speakers if you want something good? Not aiming for top of the audiophile products costing tens of thousands of dollars, just something in the range 2-3 k. Preamp DAC actually. Been looking at gold note ds10 plus, Audiolab m+, maybe Hegel

Hey Thomas Trying to decide buying a DAC. Have Cornwall III's as main speakers and listen to most of my music streaming. Was recommended a Hegel DAC but your comments said, it is no good for a bright setup. 1. Do you think Hegel DAC goes with Cornwall III speakers 2. Not sure what you mean by 'Bright'. would appreciate your response. Thanks

I never heard cornwall so I would not know. However, from my experience, horns tend to be on the forward side of neutral. This dac did not pair well with my focal so I would not advise for speakers that lean towards forward side of neutral.

or a shotgun mic as well. It is even possible to add a cilinder made of foam to achieve a perfect "rifle" pattern. And it can be placed even meters away from the talker.
