This makes me want to cry. Thinking about how simple life was before social media and internet accessibility to the masses. I’m 32 years old and I feel the bare brunt of this phenomenon. At 21 I took a 22 hour road trip with friends for my birthday. Spent a whole week in Orlando and all of this was before social media addiction. I remember how focused we were on being present because being present was all there was.

I’m 30 too. For me there’s levels of SM. I see KZbin - watching videos or Spotify doesn’t really count. Facebook & Instagram are extremely toxic though. Your taking newspaper front page seeing either drama or peoples business and for what? Why? The amount of hours I’ve wasted honestly makes me sick.

"I forgot how much I hated this" is a great conclusion to come to upon returning to social media land. It's wild that just one week out of normative modern life can bring such a giant perspective shift. It makes you wonder how entrenched our minds are in distraction constantly. And who we could be without it... Also, I usually watch KZbin videos at an increased speed - because heaven forbid I use a second of time sub optimally - but for this I left it as is, since it was so beautifully shot, paced and crafted. The cycle thing is so true, imposter syndrome when it comes to creating and feeling the need to create has been so overwhelming lately and so I bought a camera to start my photography again but then the pressure of social media judgement made me second guess my own creativity. I've unistalled tiktok but have substituted the time for youtube, just as productive as you can imagine 😬. I'll try this for 3 days, idk if I can handle my own thoughts for a week lmao. Thank you for inspiring me

The urge to be creative is what draws me into social media as well. It's an outlet for that...but then the toxicity kicks in. It's great to hear someone else relate to this issue as well.

Challenges to be a better person, better creator and look at different aspects of your life that could be improved.
