Deep in the Veluwe forest she weaves my life Wires spun, determined my fate and woven through her hands No man, no god escapes the threads of the loom Her decision binds us all, in what is and what will come She knows my path and has my purpose in life My choices, my actions, my life air and my fate in the battle She weaves the wires with persons who surround me And crosses the paths with them directly in the pursuit Urth, weave the wires Urth, orbit the paths Urth, determine my destiny There at its source at the roots of the tree of life At its pillar and the origin of it already Where Mimir showed Wodan the future

and here is my translation into English: (I welcome any and all improvements) Deep in the Veluwe forest, she weaves my life, The thread is spun, my fate determined and woven by her hands, No man, no god escapes from the threads of her loom, What she ordains binds us all in what is and what shall come She knows my path and rules over my destiny: My choices, my deeds, my life's breath and my fate in the turmoil of battle, She interweaves the threads with those around me, And crosses the paths of those equal in aspiration Urd, weave the thread, Urd, clear the path, Urd, determine my fate There at her well by the roots of the tree of life, At her pillar and the source of it all, Where Mimir revealed the future to Odin, I sup on the Norn voraciously, guarding me from the fall Now spin the thread, settle my fate, Bestow on me the deeds of my destiny, Weave my future with a steady hand, And don't sever the ties to my kin Urd, weave the thread, Urd, clear the path, Urd, determine my fate For Urd weaves my life, Urd knows my aspirations, Urd determines all Fate

dutch sounds beautiful if you don't understand the lyrics
+Ádám Kozma If you'd say it in english yes. And that's propably why in english it's so close related as in pronouciation since the Germanics moved to England before the Vikings did :) In Dutch those aren't related at all though, the Dutch word for Earth is Aarde ^^
@FRAKKEFG8 жыл бұрын
+Ádám Kozma No, Urd/Urth is the Old Saxon word for "that which has come to be" (a bit like fate) The Old Norse equivalent is Urthr, the Anglo-Saxon equivalent is Wyrd. In some parts of the Netherlands Old Saxon was spoken, today you can find it's traces in some "dialects" like Achterhoeks
@rollingrock25618 жыл бұрын
Dutch sounds more like German than English. English: Earth Dutch: Aarde German: Erde
@FRAKKEFG8 жыл бұрын
Stefan Sigl not exactly in this case: In Middle English (Erthe) it would have sounded almost the same. Also in official modern Dutch it is indeed "aarde", but in my dialect it is "Ear" (ejer). However Urth has nothing to do with Earth/Aarde/Erde......
@RinkeJohannesComposer8 жыл бұрын
Urth has nothing to do with Earth here. This is about the Lady-creature, known as one of the Three Norns, that weave the threads of life.
