Great review.Very interested in this. Almost ordered this one but ive decided to wait and get the actual SKX007 after much toing and froing, even though its 300+. Ive ordered the Heimdallr 6105 'willard'' homage instead.

UPDATE; I had the Heimdallr in my cart writing that comment and before I pulled the trigger I spotted the Steeldive version on Alibaba for 70 euro, im going with that instead lol. Cant be bad with Seiko movement and sapphire crystal for that price, in case anyone is interested

I have collected watches for 14 years. I’ve never been so particular on timekeeping of a mechanical watch. I am ok with accuracy up to -10/+10 sec per day, no problem. I was totally amazed to find out, this watch movement has a +.5 sec accuracy per day. Yes, plus one sec per two days. I’ve never thought I will see this level of accuracy after two weeks use of this watch in this price range. Seiko is in par with Rolex in this measure actually. Simply amazing. Thanks Seiko for this exceptional movement also thanks Heimdallr for putting together this time piece for this amount of money. Hands down, best deal ever.

Just bought a green dial of this watch. Excellent quality and beautiful looking. The only niggle for me was the sharp edge on the bezel compared to the more comfortable and tactile old Seiko skx that I have. After a couple of days I decided to carefully file the bezel edge smoother which distinctly improves the feel.

I bought an SKX 007 Jubilee. I’m very happy with it! 6 days delivery to Canada. It loses 5 seconds a day but that is within specs and I can live with that. I set the watch 30 seconds fast on the 1st of the month and again on the 15 th. I would definitely recommend this watch!

I have a bronze one of these with a green dial and I love it, no issues. I bought a stainless version with a blue dial from the same dealer and it's got a few issues. The chapter ring isn't aligned, there's dirt or something on the 12 o'clock hour markers and also under the crystal and finally the bezel is different in shape and feel and wobbles around a bit. I don't understand why there's such a big difference between the two models. Going to change the bezel, click spring and gasket and get the chapter ring removed and dial/crystal cleaned. Hopefully the black bit of dirt isn't stuck in the lume at 12.

The quality of the bracelet is a pleasant surprise and would encourage me to get one, even though i agree an extra bit of taper would be nice. So many other watches in that sub-200 category with bracelets that aren't good enough IMO, so you have to shell out for an extra strap, which bumps up the cost..

Hey there.. thanks for the comment ! The finishing on the clasp is not the best .. But that's just me being picky.. it doesn't affect the way it wears at all and it doesn't stand out in any way unless you pay close attention to it. And regarding the taper.. in my opinion it makes it look and wear slightly smaller on below 6.5 inch wrists . I have a 6.3 inch wrist and wasn't too bothered about it .. A used all original skx on ebay is roughly $350-$450. To mod a SKX from scratch is roughly $600. $100 for the case. $50 for the crystal. $50 for the bezel. $50 for the bezel insert. $50 for the case back. $100 for the dial. $50 for the hands. $50 for the movement. $50 for the crown and stem. $50 for the gaskets. $100 for the strapco bracelet - thats near $700 and thats not including the specialty tools like case back remover, crystal press, hand setters etc. Heimdallr and Steel dive skx is the way to go for under $250. Unbeatable.

Great review! I agree I think the bracelet should taper more. The original certainly did. I’m considering reaching out to them to buy just the watch with no bracelet and then buying an original Seiko jubilee bracelet for 50 bucks on Amazon even though it’s a cheaper feeling bracelet…I think it looks better on wrist.

Hi George, just to correct some things: You mention you can swap out all the parts, unfortunately that is not the case with the model your showing. The "2K19" revision had changes to it that tweak the dimensions of many things, and changed the bezel mechanism (it uses a piece of stiff wire to tension the bezel and handle the clicks, instead to the click spring and friction fit the SKX uses). However, Heimdallr is releasing their new "2k20" model this weekend, and it is according to them going to be 99% compatible with Seiko parts. Which is good news and means the bezel must have been reverted back to the SKX style, which should resolve the issues you pointed out with it.

This video is a bit old, but that clasp isn’t milled. It is either laser cut or water jet cut, Then stamped to generate the wrist hugging curve. (I bet laser cut then stamped by looking at the rough unfinished edge)

Just received my promaster fugu with a cream coloured face, for the last 2 days its kept perfect time.Great watch for 169 usd and FREE shipping to Cyprus 7 days after it was ordered. Great content! One note: it is not a”slightly better watch”, it is way better watch in every way. Sapphire, solid end links, hacking winding movement, ceramic bezel, even better clasp. It is double quality for half price, meaning 4 times better watch than the original. Of course if it were cost the same I still would go with the original Seiko, but for double price I won’t buy it. I wish Seiko would make a SKX like this Heimdallr.

I bought it actually because of your video highlighting the built quliity and overall value of the watch. Shipping times, options and costs need to be considered now in overall value for money. For instance, Aliexpress shipping times have gone up dramatically recently so it can take months to work out if purchases are delayed or lost. Where / channel you are buying from are becoming much more important now than previously.

I received the watch today, in the box inside there was no strap, the box was paper and it is not like in the video, the back of the watch is not engraved but printed this is very bad for the image of the watch and it looks very cheap, in its ad website looks different, watch looks nice and doesn't show green in the dark it's too dark

Hey man , thanks for the comment, depending on you budget you can deffinetly find one, heimdallr do a very good jubilee but it's 59 dollars .and I know I can recommend that because I had the watch that it came on and I know it's good quality , I'm not saying you should go and get one from them I'm saying it would be better quality , Aliexpress have decent stuff but it's a hit and miss sometimes in quality, hope it helped !

@@WatcheswithGeorge Heimdallr doesn't guarantee their bracelet will fit an actual SKX, supposedly their spring bars are positioned differently from Seiko's. The endlinks is the one caveat they mention when talking about their new "2k20" revision being compatible with Seiko parts.

Hey there, .. the bronze one if you like something like that is from where I bought mine .. so it should be the same quality.. they did a limited run and It sold out.. Just got an email today and they said it will be back at the middle of June . Depending on your budget you can always get the "islander" from longisland watch .. it is 300 dollars but Mark knows what he's doing so it should be decent quality ! I bought the tandorio a little less fancy than hemdaller but twenty percent cheaper and great lume .the bracelet is the difference in price ,I'm very picky about the bracelet and on skx it's critical ,I prefer to use something more rigid

The misinformation of labeling a watch "Diver" when it is not is typical of Chinese manufacturers, it is not an accident and undercuts the brand and their reputation. Luckily we have the George's to sluth this out.

It'll be good enough for most diving. When you go deeper than 20 or 30m you'll probably use a dive computer anyways and the watch is a backup in case the computer fails. For technical diving you probably want to have two dive computers, one with a gas pressure sensor and the backup without. To meet ISO 6425 specs the watch has to have a something to measure time up to 60 minutes - that's the bezel. The bezel should have marks every 5 minutes which match the marks on the dial and are easy to see. The minute hand must be easily distinguishable from the hour hand. Everything has to be viewable from 10 inch distance. Battery driven watches need a visible battery status indicator. It should survive 24h at 18 to 25°C in a 30 gram per liter salt (NaCl) solution without signs of corrosion and all moveable parts operational. The pressure test is just 20 minutes in a pressurized container and many watchmakers have the equipment to do this. I just had my 38 year old swiss made Dugena Nautica T200 serviced and I got a test protocol for the 20atm test. It won't pass ISO because it is a quartz watch and doesn't have a battery indicator. Back in the day when I bought it I was a radioman in the Navy and I did some recreational diving down to 25 meters but I did need accurate time to the second every other night.

@@VolkerHett The wreck dives I do are no more than 150' and this would "probably" be ok but it is not ISO certified which is what "Diver" implies to me.

Hey .. thanks for the comment. This is more a desk diver in that sense .. I think that anyone that actually goes diving uses a proper ISO certified diver .In other words you couldn't be more right ! Thanks again

They dont check these watches for water resistance. They check one and thats about it. I wouldn't trust any of these chinese watches without disassembling them and greasing the gaskets.
