Attributed to Alexander Agricola with the title "Ave Sanctissima" in the 2nd book of Hans Newsidler´s 1536 print in Nuremberg. We don´t know where Newsidler & Formschneyder got this information from, since the piece is usually connected to Isaac and his 3 part piece "Der Hundt". Nevertheless, the piece is set for the lute to provide a fantastic display of slowly developed polyphonic motives, in a setting which really makes the instrument sing and breathe in long phrases. Live recording from St Nicolai-kyrkan, Arboga, Sweden. Lute after Gerle made by Lars Jönsson in 2017.
