I wish they covered more about the partnership formed with farmers in Mexico. Supporting farmers by creating a market for them to pre-sell their entire harvest as a way of preserving local traditions is a business model that I support wholeheartedly.

I'm late to the party, but I have to say that Rancho Gordo beans are not some gimmick. I thought I didn't like beans, but these are a game changer. I'm a newbie and I'm already addicted. I've introduced other people to these beans and everyone is sold.

One of my favorite places to buy heirloom variety of beans (we eat a lot of beans) is Rancho Gordo over in Napa. Was overjoyed to see todays CBS Sunday Morning show had this nice segment on them.

Instead of the last written statement about gas, why not offer more productive, up-to-date, and helpful information about soaking the beans before cooking to avoid it. Great segment until that unfortunate last bit.

If you cook beans with epazote which is the traditional way for thousands of years, you don’t have as much gas or digestive issues. Epazote is an herb, really easy to grow and can find it often in Mexican markets sold as dried and sometimes sold as frozen larger leaves. I don’t eat beans without epazote.

Yes! This was the song we sang as a child farting from the chili beans. I'm very excited about these Legumes; I haven't tasted the heirloom variety. Maybe, someday I will be able to enjoy those beans?... I felt the same way about the adverb choice. I think, it was magical because of the nursery story, "Jack in the Bean Stalk." Flatulence was giggley amusement to our ears. Plus, beans are healthy! I still find food exciting and fun, because of child like wonder, which never fades, through I do age. #methanefuntimesofyore

Sadly, i wanted to love these beans. But they really aren’t that delicious. (I went to cooking school, so I know how to cook legumes.) Taste is clearly a subjective thing. I've been a bean club member for a few years now, and in that entire time, I've only come across one variety that didn't appeal to me. Thanks to Rancho Gordo, my family happily eats beans a few times a week and I've incorporated dozens of new recipes into my repertoire.

To drive up the price/desire they make an exclusive club gimmicks like this from Rancho Gordo is a desperate poly from a desperate seller to push product. Beans in wine country is not that amazing since beans have lots of protein & protein minimizes the effects of alcohol .

I'm sorry but you don't have this quite right. We've been around for almost 20 years. I thought it would be funny to have a bean club since everyone here has a wine club. That's it! Nothing nefarious. Nothing even all that clever. We're a lot of things but we're not desperate.

@@HotVoodooWitch 60 minutes gave the impression that only club members could order them. TV type content like this has always had such time crunch that they inevitably try to make the story interesting rather than educational leading to misunderstanding.
