I have 20, after adding 8 this week. I also have about a dozen old bobbins made for other machines. I use them to transfer thread for storage and free up a standard bobbin for the current project. When I need that thread again, it just gets wound back onto a standard bobbin in no time. I don't need a huge mass of different bobbins in my already over-cluttered life, but this is a convenient way to make use of the small collection of old ones that fit my machine but don't work well in it.

Well, I have to admit that I have A LOT of bobbins . . . 252 to be exact. I have 127 for my Bernina B480 & B790 PRO and 125 bobbins for my B880+. I used to have a B500, but traded that in some time ago. I have made a lot of free standing lace and in-the-hoop items for which I used the same colors in top and bobbin. I also experiment with different thread brands, types, and weights. Keeping track of what I have wound on each bobbin has become a challenge. Yesterday I sorted through all my bobbins and rearranged them in labeled containers. It’s a journey that seems to go on and on. Please don’t ask how many needles I own. 🙂

I have 125 bobbins for my Bernina 1630 & 730, and 85 for my Bernina 590 & 790. I do a great deal of garment sewing, and some quilting and embroidery and bag making. I can't imagine only having 30 bobbins!

25 Bobbins but I have just purchased a new sewing embroidery machine. I keep a back up embroidery machine as I run a small home based embroidery business and have about 30 bobbins for the back up machine

At least 40 or 50 for my Viking Designer Sapphire 85. I love the fun colors the bobbins come in. I color code the bobbins: only yellow for embroidery bobbins so I never mix them in with “the general population” of top thread. Also keep the yellow/embroidery thread bobbins in a separate pouch, along with the embroidery feet and accessories. As for the top threads, I use the pink bobbins for white thread and deep purples for black thread. The rest of the bobbin colors are for the other colors of top thread. For the last 3 years I have been quilting almost exclusively, and QAYG, so I match the upper and bobbin threads, or I use a color on the top that matches the top layer and different color to go with the backing. Those may not match. So, I have fun with picking the bobbin color I want for each block/quilt. AND, I like the HV branded little bobbin winder. It took a tutorial from the dealer on how to use it properly, but once I learned the secrets, it has become fun to use. AND, YES! I always wind bobbins on the slowest speed and I have no tension/portioning issues. Love your work, Sara! Thanks for all you do for us! ❤

I have plenty of bobbin and several of the donut bobbin holders. Last Christmas I was given a tin of Ikea biscuits. The tin is the perfect size to hold the donut bobbin holders to keep the dust off them.

I never counted how many I had for my Husqvarna Ruby (Gem) machine, but it was well more than 100. I have fewer for my Epic2 and Bernina B770QEE machines - 70 for the Epic2, 50 for the B770. I've never used pre-wound bobbins. Every now and again I will spend a little time winding at least a dozen bobbins of bobbinfill thread ready for embroidery. It takes probably less than 10 minutes and you can be cleaning your machine or putting in a new needle - all sorts of little jobs that you can stop doing and load another bobbin as soon as one is finished. The downside of the larger bobbins (B770QEE and Epic2) is that I find I am less inclined to fill an entire bobbin of whatever colour I am using to construct a dress or pants. When I had the machine that used regular bobbins, I would fill a bobbin or two at the beginning of a clothing project. I don't like having the larger bobbins sitting around a third filled with a colour I may or may not use again in the near future. The purpose made boxes that take 25 of the larger bobbins are ideal for storing them neatly.

I can't imagine that few. I have a relatively new machine and I think I only have 40. But I still have a huge number bobbins from previous machines. I trade empty ones into my dealer as I empty them. I also empty them by putting them on the top to sew a smaller project. I find the round storage containers take too much room in my rectangle drawers. But the perfect solution eludes me.

25 for my B790. I am always tempted to buy more. I had many more when I had a machine with smaller, less expensive bobbins.

I am a bobbin lover. I only work with bobbins in my projects. I keep the spools as bobbin fillers. I have around 200 bobbins. I like to work with smaller portions of thread. With my serger I'm forced to work with spools.
@kimschannel167320 сағат бұрын
There’s something called a “Bob n Serge” that sits on your serger thread stand and holds bobbins! I use it all the time. I only buy one spool of colored thread and fill bobbins on a bobbin winder!

i own 53 bobbins :) my new machine came w/3 (yes just THREE! ugh) so i purchased a pack of 50 before i left the store w/my new Pfaff!
@stevemcmillin2737Күн бұрын
I have a bobbin in each different spool of thread I have for each machine. Luckily the Singer and Brother use the same bobbin. The Pfaff 720 tho, not. My quilt store gives me a good discount for a time frame after buying a new machine from them so I bought about 5 packages of bobbins when I got the Pfaff. I also learned a long time ago to only buy bobbins from the manufacturer. No after market cheapos. Luckily my thread rack has room for two bobbins under the thread on each prong so I can keep them all together. Your videos are the best!

Well I’m not sure but I have four of the red bobbin holder. None are full but they are 100% cotton, polyester thread. I have my embroidery bobbins are stored in the plastic case which holds 12 bobbins. If i were to guess, I have close to 200 bobbins. I also have empty ones as well.

I like to have between 10 and 20 empty bobbins for each of my machines, so I buy more as the time goes on as I fill them with thread. I do pull off thread if I have a low bobbin, it is frustrating to run out even with sensors.

I have a lot... maybe 25 for one machine. What stops me having more is running out of places to store them. I need extra ones for coloured thread. I use them mainly for applique and FMQ practice. I committed to sewing seams as much as I can in either black, navy off white, light blue/grey or pink. I am hoping to downsize my thread "collection".
