So, I have a beautiful package of wool, adornments and Valdani thread, unopened, staring at me daily! I truly intend to begin but am intimidated by the many different stitches needed to complete the project. I'm starting with the most basic stitch and will go on from there. If you are out and about and think you hear cries of frustration in the air, it's only me on my 1900th try to learn a french knot! Thanks for these tips, Sara, it's always fun to begin the New Year in the sewing space!

Epic 1 Haven't used it yet. I upgraded from Designer I. I have a quilt I need to try using a embroidery pattern to quilt. I have Platinum software. It seems so complicated.

What is the quilt pattern of the quilt behind you?? And can you share the pen holder pattern? Love your videos!!

Asking how many scissors a quilter has is rather like asking 'How big is your fabric stash?" Hahaha :)

Your classes are fantastic. I buy my needles by the 100 (in a small box) and change them often. I use an old prescription bottle to put the old ones in. I consider these as "sharps" and don't want someone hurt by loose needles in the trash.

I puchased the Embroidery Essentials last year and didn't finish it. My goal this year is to start the course from the beginning and really learn how to use my embroidery module.

As for taking our sewing machines in for service, prevention here is the key. One always reads how machines were fine, taken in for service and came home with issues. Myself included Unfortuneatley I have experienced this. If it ain't broke, don't fix, but that does not say neglect your machine. After every day of sewing, clean out your machine. Oil as per instructions in the manual, some machines never get oiled, some need to be oiled every day. CHANGE your needle after every 8 hours of sewing or after every project. Use the appropriate needle for the project. Most definetely take in your machine at the sign of the first issue.

Only 3 big scissors, but many small ones (maybe 7...). Thank you for all you do. I actually learned to work on a new Bernina machine during the pandemic thanks to you, Sarah. I took the Cosmos course too, but didn't quite finish it. Need to do again, and some embroidery courses too.

I don’t think I’m addicted to scissors. I have a pair of snips that never worked and MSQC credited my account for them; but I didn’t throw them away. I have two other pairs of snips-they came two in a package-and I use one pair and I’m saving the other pair for when the first pair quits working. I have a really nice black lightweight 8-inch pair of scissors; and somewhere I still have that heavy Gingher’s. For handwork I have a small pair of expensive scissors in my sewing bag. That’s about it, and looking at some of these entries, I don’t think that’s too bad. 😍

Too many LOL. I have a lot of scissors but there are many kinds. Large Shears, applique, tiny curved blades, thread snip. blunt tip, pinking, and sew on. I need some at my machine and at my cutting table. I also have 60mm, 45 mm, 28 mm, and 18mm rotary cutters. I just subscribed and liked your channel. I am not going to admit to stuff I haven't used last year. HaHa I can assure you that as soon as I donate an item, in a week or so, I will figure out a use for it.

Are we counting only crafting scissors? Because I'm also a homeschool mom to multiple children and host multiple kid activities. Sooooooo in my sewing room that I use for sewing i have one pair for fabric, two for paper, two snips and 1 rotary cutter. My son has a pair of snips, a fabric scissor and a paper scissor. I havea container that has 5 scissor for the activities I host, I have my kitchen scissor. Then I have two pair in the dining room buffet for any body for any use and a pair in my bathroom for trimming my own hair. And bith my boys have a pair for school things and I have one extra set that stays on the desk for me to have easy access to scissor when helping my younger kiddo. Is that too many??? Because it doesn't usually feel like enough.

I bought a couple of yo-yo makers that I haven’t opened. I think it’s because I’ve never used one and I don’t know how to use them. I saw a project in a store and it was an impulse buy. I do want to do something with them, I just haven’t yet.

Quilting rulers shrink???? I've never heard that one and did a quick Google search...not finding that. Insight on source for that comment would be appreciated.

My mom was a sewer and I inherited all her scissors 25 years ago, but have also bought many pairs for myself. Needless to say, I definitely need to donate some because I’m sure the number is higher than I care to admit. My goal for 2025 is to start/finish as many classes of yours that I can, it’s just so hard to find time when working full time. I can’t wait to retire and learn as much as I can. Thanks for all that you do, I couldn’t use my new Epic 2 without you!

Oh no! I’m behind. One 6-7”, one snips , 2 40mm and 2 smaller rotary cutter. No wonder I can never find them when I need them. Now I just need to find that gift card…
