Excellent video! I love that you explain what you're doing and WHY! ¶ SUGGESTION: in this video you explained your plan for future growth of this plant. NOW do a follow-up video of how THIS plant did in the next growing season. Add a link in THIS video description to the follow-up video. ¶ In the follow-up, Insert clips from THIS video stating what your intentions were, and then SHOW us how that worked out in the next season. ¶ As they say, "proof is in the blooming!" Again, excellent video, and thank you for your efforts to educate us.

Another area of concern for me is just this, transplanting. What time of the year etc etc. I've been fortunate, because I have moved my rose bushes with me during summer months, and most of them survived. But I always used to wonder, I'm sure I can find a video on the best types of the year to do things to the bushes at this site. I'm glad when he mentioned about trying to get most of the root ball, but it's okay if you hear or feel that you're cutting into roots, just part of the process I guess. But I still try to go is wide around the plant as I can, and as deep as I can. Great stuff here, love his attitude, a lot of the comments he makes I can definitely relate to, so thanks again!

I have always root pruned when transplanting a large rose, especially a climber. I’ve always had success that way. Sometimes those climber roots are just so big and so long. Is it always best not to prune any of the roots, or are there times when one should?

Hi! It really depends in the maturity of the plant. For a larger established rose, (2-3 years) you can definitely prune the roots. You might see a set back after transplanting but that is normal, the plant will bounce back. For a younger plant that it is just getting established, if the roots are not too long, you can transplant it as it is without pruning the roots.

This video is perfect timing! I have a rose that randomly popped up last year... but not in an ideal spot. I have bare roots coming soon that were going where this baby rose is. Is it OK to transplant it now? It's leafing out.. I'm in 7a.

Yes! Spring and fall are the best time for transplanting.

HI! I have a few questions hopefully you or someone can answer. 1. How are you able to bury it so deep? I thought you were supposed to bury the ball? 2. Why doesn’t the website have sunlight recommendations for the roses with all the other details? Will that be added at some point? 3. Why is it one place will say a certain rose will be 3ft high and a different place will say it will be 5ft? 4. Can i prune a rose that has started growing like an hour glass to make it more uniform? Do i just chop the top half off or just wait until late fall/winter and prune then? I think that’s all i have right now lol sorry!

Previous stated my first time planting roses. Planted in August 2024. Went on vacation for a week in November. Returned to find leaves on my roses brushes are All covered with black spots. I read removing every leaf will put the plant in shock. What should I do?? 😢
