Sparta deployed their formation very poorly and didn’t put enough pressure on the flanking units. It was a defeat even before the battle started simply because they deployed too spread and didn’t have the speed to reinforce effectively with the spacing they left in their lines. They also didn’t put their hoplites in phalanx to counter the charge.

Possibly so. I think the lack of cavalry can be difficult to deal with. Unless you just bury an enemy with numbers maybe.

Yep, the story goes that after the catastrophic Spartan defeat at Leuktra the relatives of those who died went around beaming with pride while the relatives of the survivors hid in shame (Xenophon, Hellenika 6.4.16). But we can't really trust this because our sources like to describe Sparta (and other unfamiliar places) as Opposite Land

Concerning the question about germanic slingers: Yes, their block chance is indeed reduced. Along with their accuracy, and that of all other cheap slingers.

Man whenever you press the hoplite wall button the unit freaking loses its mind and starts to do stupid things give sides to enemies etc.

Hello Heiro! greetings from patagonia argentina! i have a question, why theres no multiplayer battles of three kingdoms in youtube? i dont play it but from the singleplayer battle videos its seems an amazing game...

The game never had a huge multiplayer following. Don't think it had great features or replayability. It was a great game, I did enjoy it, but CA cut support for the game and it kind of rubbed everyone the wrong way.

Heir the fact that we think that Greek oplites fought in close ranks is a fact that WE think. In reality, even the idea of standardized equipment is a much more later one and oplites had to have, strictly speaking, only shield and spear, everything else was up to the individual citizen. Greek warfare is much more accurately described in Homer's poems: the initial charge and then individual duels. Then again, Rome 2 is a game so it's all right. As for the women of Sparta, it's been written (I can't recall the source off the top of my head) they said to their men to come back either with the shield, or upon it, because the shield was the heaviest piece of equipment and the fleeing oplite threw it away to run more freely

Really not much the Spartan player could do, Sparta's just a much worse faction than the Suebi.

I don't know if they are the worst, but they certainly struggle. Sparta does pretty well in the sub commanders game type and mod though
