Tenzin wouldn’t have clutched the 3 vs 1. He was just dodging their attacks. He wasn’t putting them down and Ghazan didn’t use lava. And Ming Hua didn’t use all her arms.

At this point of the show Tenzin is not simply a master, HE IS THE MASTER. Two people may have the skills to preserve the arts of air bending without him but neither have yet been anointed as masters of air bending in this lifetime. Should Tenzin die at this point their to would end the monastic traditions of passing down knowledge from one master to the next.

For there to be a grand-master there must be at least one contemporary master that is subordinate to the grand-master in some fashion, be it in actual authority or in knowledge of mysteries. There are no other anointed masters; therefore, Tenzin is not a grand master . . . yet.

Remember the third episode (i think it was the third ep.) in season one of ATLA? Zuko threatened the people of the southpole and Aang turned himself over so Zuko wont harm the people, now Korra is technically turning the favor to Aang and is protecting his people by turning herself over to Zaheer :') I love both of these shows man the details and the storytelling is beyond beautiful

He literally counters ghazan perfectly, in my books a good air bender will never be touched by a good earth bender cause of the speed and flexibility ( with the exception of guys like boomy and toph who are on the next level )

I really think that Korra could have been great if they were willing to take more risks in showing pain, the bison should have been shot at first of all to prevent escape and Tenzin should have died as to show to Korra the weight of her actions. None of this happened despite the clear advantage they had and I bet it was originally supposed to be that way.
