My husband (who is a pilot) and I walked back up the aisle to this on our wedding day, and never has a moment been more perfect. Our pianist was incredible and it was everything and more than I had imagined xx

My wife walked down the isle to this song back in 2015. Outstanding choice. I’m glad others felt as inspired by this song as we did. What does your husband fly, and who for?

Totally. The way that this traces through how many people dreamed, dedicated, and in some cases gave their lives so that we could not be confined to Earth's surface. And that moment when we finally cracked the code... how quickly we went from there. Think about the fact that the last plane Orville Wright ever got to fly was a Lockheed Constellation. He saw the very first controlled powered flight, all the way up to a transatlantic airliner.

ha i fell in love with it when it was the BA advert on the flight that i was on when i moved from my home to the UK 8 years ago, and i keep coming back to this video when i want a moment to reflect on the passion for aviation.... and yes... every time it brings a tear..

I would drop everything when this ad came on and even rewind the DVR to hear this song until I finally looked it up tonight. In it's entirety the piece is stunning and the video and it's incredibly moving. The heartbeat sound during the suspension and the background radio chatter in the British Airways ad really add a ton of drama.

I take drone videos and always try to put them to music. A few months ago I did a video of a high end home a friend had built. I was struggling with how to assemble the footage I had taken. While listening to Pandora this song came on and I immediately started to envision the video in my head. In my opinion this is one of the most hauntingly beautiful piano pieces made. It was once said, "Simplicity carried to the extreme becomes elegance."

As we hurl ourselves headlong into the ethereal heavens We put our trust in the sky Never to let us fall As our brothers and sister compass their hearts Across an immeasurable path We put faith on our wings not to fail Nor for our power to leave our souls And if it be so; Cushion us, feather-like, back to the loving Earth.

We take flying for granted nowadays. We whine about delays, nitpick about onboard service, point out inadequacies. While all important for sure, it has made mundane the experience that, if you think of it, is singularly breathtaking. Humanity's ingenuity, with all our inherent flaws, has made it possible for millions of bits and bobs, of nuts and bolts, to harmoniously sync and break the surly bonds of earth and achieve sustained flight. So each time you experience a delay or receive bad service, take a moment to step back and realize that you are experiencing something that is miraculous.

@knightsoflegion: If you only knew how difficult it is to build and work with a flying machine from this era. I built a reproduction Wright 1902 glider (hull #8) in 2002-03 and exhibited at airshows in the southeast US for a year. Having worked with a machine that behaves, according to the book, as the original did I can't understand what made any of these men think that human flight was possible. And yet, they did. 0:18 - R.I.P. Otto Lilienthal. 08-10-1896 "Sacrifices must be made."
