Boom mics are used primarily in film purposes, where the microphone should be positioned close to the audio source without appearing in the frame of the shot.

The world has never been a Utopia I know but God almighty it certainly is not now. On top of that Elvis is dead and we have covid and Putin and Philip is dead. It is a hard life and then you die. @@davidgibbs7232 Hi David, I understand you clearly spoke about nostalgia (which I love too - after all, I also watched this video!). And I think you also meant that nostalgia tends to 'paint' everything rose, thus not really objective. Also, we (people) generally tend to think that the 'good old days' were so much better and peaceful compared to now. Statistically that has been proven wrong and we never lived in such a 'stable' quiet world as we do now (however with the negative twitch of smartphone all day). I spoke above about 'dry facts' and nothing more. Wish you enjoy your time to the most! :-)
