Beautiful Bee, Helen! Awhile back, I successfully illustrated a bee from one of Katrina Crouch’s videos, and then immediately traced it down to some tracing paper. I’ve painted that lovely bee over and over never tiring of how lovely she looks. Bees are so awesome! They are the only insect on the planet that makes food for us. I love that saying on a photo of a bee on Pinterest, “if I die, we all die.” We all must love the bees. A couple of years back, we had a natural hive in one of our trees that began to fall apart. Poor little bees were in an awful state. We called in bee specialists and had them relocated. Thank you for sharing your bee painting. Blessings to you!

I just watched one video of yours (and I haven't finished yet) and I already subscribe to you. As someone who often got frustrated with the control of the brush, or the color outcome, the wetness of the strokes, I feel like I will learn A LOT from you. I love your precision, the technique you use, and how thorough you are in your video.

Just recently found your marvelous channel. So love watching you paint and the background music is so nice. You kept referring to the paper you use but I don't find it in the guide. Would you be so kind as to tell me what brand you use. Thank you. Wish I could watch all the time. But Christmas is nearing and have gifts to make/finish. Again thank u so very much. I too am self taught in watercolor. I'm told they like what I do. Are your brushes the same as Anna Mason's. I bought them several years ago and noticed when searching on Jackson's site they were with Rosemary's. Love Jackson's store wish it was in the US so I could go browse.
@helencampbell3 жыл бұрын
Hi Gloria. Thank you. The brushes are spotters which I think are the same yes. It depends on the tutorial as to which paper are use, it’s either Daler Rowney mixed media paper or arches coldpressed 300 GSM. It will be in each description below every video and I usually speak about it at the start of every video xx

Love your puddles! The little I can share about bees are that…… The bee has wing veins and the little visible sections are called cells. The white flower could be a heliotrope?

Absolutely stunning artwork, thanks so much for sharing your experience. Please can you tell me if there is a difference in, for example, the way a number 1 round acts in comparison to a spotter #1? Thanks Rae. Lou x
@helencampbell3 жыл бұрын
Hi Lou. Thank you. Because the spotter has shorter bristles it makes the paint easier to apply (in my opinion) I occasionally use rounds but I much prefer spotters

I am very new and want to try my hand at this. I have fallen in love with watercolor. Most sights I’ve watched or listened to have said use only cotton watercolor paper and certain weights for good results. How is it yours are so beautiful with only mixed media paper?
@helencampbell3 жыл бұрын
Hi. Mixed media paper, in my opinion mix watercolour Application super easy. In a few weeks time I have a new video that talks about this in detail so please keep an eye out for that. In the meantime, I think it’s because if it’s brightness and like I said, makes application easy. It’s just my opinion but why not give it a go? 😀
