Helene strengthens to a Category 1 hurricane

Florida residents are making final preparations ahead of Hurricane Helene's arrival. Helene is expected to make landfall near Tallahassee as a strong Category 3 storm. NBC News' Marissa Parra reports on the evacuations underway and Bill Karins reports on the storm's latest path.

👏👏👏👏 I live in the panhandle of Florida and lots of people leave their pets when the evaluate. During Hurricane Michael, a category 5, the strongest rating for hurricanes I was very angry to find out people were looking for their pets afterwards. Lots of them never found theirs. There aren't very many shelters for people with pets to stay at. Prepare early especially if you have pets.

I am pretty sure Trump cut Fema funds. Any place that has any kind of natural disaster must have millions mostly billions from Fema. I am not 100% he cut their funds but am 99% sure. I am not trying to get political but you implying Trump will help the most with natural disasters is not true. I am an Independent but still vote. I don't like either of the candidates running. You know other states besides Florida have natural disasters, right? Not all hurricanes cause flooding either. Lots of them don't. If they hit inland the wind is the issue. Maybe don't speak on states or national disasters you no nothing about.
