My son runs the dept at UCL where students use these - my husband ( a sculptor) got one for xmas. They said there is a free programme called " Rodin" that enables you to change drawings into 3 d models . He is going to make my 5 yr old granddaughters scribbles into models .
@Helenmaryjo13 күн бұрын
How fabulous, I'll tell my son in law xx

Slicing is the process it goes through to slice the 3D Model. It literally creates hundreds of slices, like a loaf of sliced bread or a stack of cards, but super thin 0.08mm (depending on settings) so it can print each slice based on the 3D model you loaded. It's already a 3D Model when you load it into the software :) If you want to create your own models, you can use something like Blender (which is free to have and free to download), but there is a learning curve to using it. Great video though.... you got a sub from me :)

HB. Thanks for the demo, Helen. I have heard so much about computer printing , but couldn’t visualise how they work. A family member has had a 3D printer for ages. They use it to make parts for radio control aircraft such as the pilot or parts for the aircraft design. Also used it to make replacement parts for various DIY parts. Thoroughly recommend. I can see a few caravan pieces being made.
