What puzzles me is why there aren't many TREES around?! My reference of NZ is exuberante Nature and wildlife! Please plant more...
@deanwitt79032 жыл бұрын
I’ll tell you why as I used to live in the wider area for over 40 years until recently . The ground in that area is predominately moutere clay . The more fertile productive land is down in the flats and valleys and this village is relatively high on a hill where there is not a lot of top soil . Excavation of the area has removed alot of soil down to the clay . The clay in the area is very hard to grow trees in unless they are pines . I spent alot of time planting in this type of land and it usually involves removing the clay and back filling the hole with decent material to get the tree off to a good start . The land there is rubbish but people pay through the nose to live in the Tasman / Nelson district for the relatively good weather year round .

They never last long, especially down there as the isolation of NZ drives people to depression and exacerbates the inherent selfishness of this sort of person.

This project appears to have been a real estate fraud scheme: www.stuff.co.nz/business/property/89774973/Son-of-Atamai-Village-financiers-buys-up-liquidated-land-for-new-project

@@crispyglove My husband and I lived at Atamai for awhile and we had high hopes but there were too many Chiefs and not enough Indians. The Chiefs fell out with each other (which is your link above) and the other factor was that the individual sections were too pricey. Sadly, the co-housing project never got off the ground as I think that could have saved it.

Hi there! I’m a stupid entitled foreigner who wants to wear hideous flower pants and play the world’s worst music while segregating myself from New Zealand. Is there a place for me? I have tonnes of money on my electronic card!

Post carbon lifestyle lol. Easy for a small community, but not in any way realistic for a developed country with its current infrastructure, unless we go with the safe, carbon free, efficient and energy dense nuclear power option.
