Very Sharp looking Chopper this is the direction I'm heading for & the $300-350 price range is also budget friendly. I just found a small RC Huey & transmitter NOS on eBay for $40 shipped❗ no longer in production anymore! to fly outside after I learn on my Syma107g inside👍 Question,Why do you land on sidewalk❓Would it not be better to land it in the soft grass?
@theimacman4 жыл бұрын
I land on the sidewalk because it is flat and stable. The grass is uneven and risks tipping the helicopter over, or if the grass is tall enough it could even hit the blades or tail rotor.
@miguelsalami4 жыл бұрын
I would give the foam tires a try if your going to be landing on hard surfaces I'm sure they would help since there is no wheel suspension.

Very nice review! I would really like to buy one, but I use Spectrum, did you mention they offer a pnf?
@theimacman7 жыл бұрын
I don't think they offered a PNF version, and either way, it doesn't matter now, because this model has been discontinued for quite some time. If you can find a used one, or whatever, you could fly it with Spektrum by using the AnyLink adapter, I believe.
@BrianPhillipsRC7 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I saw that you'd mentioned that in the video. I'm leery about the anylink, but I guess I've never heard anyone complaining that they cause issues. What has been your experience with the anylink (or do you just use the Tactic radio)? I use a DX18, and have a hard time buying another radio, so chances are at some point, I'll end up with an AynLink... I had a strong suspicion that this heli had been discontinued when I realized how awesome it was, and that I liked it, and wanted it. Seems that...if I recently bought it, want to buy it, or reviewed it, chances are it's discontinued! LOL Thanks Ryan
@theimacman7 жыл бұрын
I haven't had any issues with the AnyLink, but I also don't fly long-range at all. I would think the concern would be range, so as long as you stay close, I don't foresee any issue. Programming seemed to be the hardest part, since the instructions were kind of vague. So, for a CP heli like this, you may be completely on your own trying to figure out the programming.

Damn I got back in RC just a tad too late to miss out on the awesome little scale birds. So far I’m flying a Blade Nano CP S, Blade MCP S, Blade 230 S and a Blade 360 CFX 3S. I really want a Blade AH64 and the little Heli-Max UH60 but damn they are discontinued and the hobby shops are telling me that helicopters are dead as a hobby and drones are taking over. I told the hobby shop owner that drones are cool but will never require an actual pilot like a heli does and that makes drones gay as hell.

I should buy
@theimacman10 жыл бұрын
I have never gotten the chance to fly an AR.Drone myself. They look nice! Have you seen the new "Bebop" that Parrot announced? It looks really impressive. I've heard about the Proto X having motors die, but it hasn't happened to me (yet... knock on wood). Do you use a prop guard on yours? I really like the 1SQ... or even more, the 1SQ V-Cam, since it has LEDs, 6-axis stabilization, and a camera. It is one of the more expensive micro quads though, and you could probably spend less and get something else similar, at least for starters. Have you considered the Hubsan X4? You can get it with or without a camera, and there are prop guards available for it. It's a great and iconic little quad. The Blade Nano QX is my favorite indoor flyer, but it's pretty pricey. I also really like the WLtoys V252 Improved version... have you seen my review of the Clear Tmart version? That would probably be a good one to try, and that is near your $50 price range. :) I'm glad you like my videos! Feel free to ask more questions, or details about other models to consider. :)

Great vid, as always :-) and what a beautiful chopper. Would you trust the AnyLink as much as the Heli-Max radio, or would you go for the RTF? Don't know much about the AnyLink system other than that I can use it on my Spektrum. 6:49 careful with the ponytail there! ;-)
@theimacman10 жыл бұрын
Thanks! There is a new AnyLink2 which has better range and is much more reliable. I would trust this with that. The AnyLink1 did have a tendency to have drop-outs though, so I don't think I would fully trust this heli to that, unless I kept the flying in really close to myself. The RTF radio, or Tactic TTX650, are completely reliable though, as far as my experiences go. I quite like my TTX650. :) Hahaha, luckily the way I wear my hatcam, it smashes my hair down against my head, or else I might have had a little incident there. lol

@theimacman6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, this is a whole different beast. lol Going from FP to CP is a bit of a jump in skill level, but then add on to top of that this being a scale model (which are generally heavier than typical RC helis) with multiple blades, this heli can be a bit of a handful. I would suggest trying something like the Blade Nano CP S first. Oh, and this Blackhawk has been discontinued, so it's not really an option at this point anyway. ;)

@pauliether.c.guy.33498 жыл бұрын
Www3!!!!!!!! Is all I can say about this Blackhawk helicopter. I have owned a few cheaper End helicopters like the the usual twin rotor fixed pitch. Yours is collective pitch meaning each rotor blade has an arm at the end of it connected to a tiny servo and they all move in conjunction with each other to control the rate of lift ,kinda like a real real helicopter. Ryan This is one of the more expensive line of hobby grade helicopters lol. Now they have Expensive Fpv with collective pitch rotor blades. These drones Ryans can do some serious 3D flying. Now buddy bear with me I am still learning what the rates do and what's the difference between low-med-high rates. Now when you recalibrate your gyro what that do? For example to recalibrate your accelerometer or go one stick up and one stick down or left stick 0 :-,( thanks Ryan,
@theimacman8 жыл бұрын
+Paul Santora The quads that do 3D actually use motor-reversing, not collective pitch. They very quickly stop the motors and then spin the opposite direction. So, they aren't as great for 3D as a CP heli. As for recalibrating the accelerometer, that tells it what "level" is so that when the quad auto-levels, it doesn't drift and can hold a better hover.
@theimacman8 жыл бұрын
+Paul Santora Oh, and rates are how much movement you get. So, lower rates means full stick only makes the quad/heli lean, say, 80%. But high rates will let it lean 100%, making it faster and more responsive, but harder to control.

jonathan asmal I will see what I can do. Those are hard videos to make, and usually turn out quite long. Ever since I got my Helimax Axe 100 cp its left a bad taste in my mouth for collective pitch helis.That thing is an under powered pos... But this thing seems to fly much better and have adequate power. I love the scale detail, disappointed though it dosnt have any scale light details that I saw. Im not sure what expo you run for your rates but a lil more may give you an even better flight experience.
@theimacman10 жыл бұрын
I've had fun with my 100CP, but I also don't fly it 3D, so power hasn't been a big issue for me. Funny you mention the light details... that was something I noticed after the fact... it has scale light placements on it, but they don't actually light up. That would've definitely been a nice touch if they worked. I think I was using 15% expo on 70% rates, and 20% expo on 100% rates. I still need to dial those in though, and I think you are right... a bit more expo would probably help, at least for scale flying. :)

Yeah im not sure if my 100cp was a dud or not, just lacked power and run time was pitiful. Thats strange about the lights... that would have put the scale detail over the top. Yeah for scale flying id guess 25 and 30% expo for scale flying. Its so pristine with the details id be scared to attempt any 3d with it :P

Dawson McElhany Yeah, I don't know if I'll ever attempt 3D with this. Certainly not until I've bashed my 100CP around for quite awhile. I still have not gone inverted with a heli, but I do really want to learn some mild 3D at some point. :)

dcm89291 You are right! I just checked, and they do indeed light up! Really cool! :) Guess I never noticed them out in the daylight.

How long does the 600 milliamp battery last? (You didn't mention that while you were talking about the battery)
@theimacman10 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I didn't mention it for this heli, because in a heli like this, the flight times are going to vary drastically depending on how it is flown. But, for gentle scale flying, I was getting probably 7-8min flights. The manual suggests setting the transmitter timer to 5min though, so I'd imagine you would see flights closer to the 5min mark if you were doing more aggressive flying with it.

just got one but as im in New Zealand "Heli-Max" is called "Nine Eagles" for some copyright reason.... but i was wondering if the Align T-Rex 200's 4 blade tail rotor upgrade will fit on the tail of this to be more realistic?
@theimacman7 жыл бұрын
Heli-Max and Nine Eagles are both Hobbico brands. They sell Nine Eagles products under the Heli-Max name in America. :) As for the tail rotor, I have no idea, sorry. :/
