Thank you! I watched some other videos for jogless garter in the round and just got confused. Your video really makes the steps so clear and understandable. I know what I'm doing now. Love the tips too.

Excellent demonstration. I have watched another couple teaching this technique but couldn't see what was happening., You have captured this so well visually, in addition to the voice instructions. Many thanks.

Very nice this tip too! Thank you! Does it work for 3 sts prior, or just 1 or 2 sets are enough? I prefer yr suggestion than just trying it.

Any number will work, 3 is not too many to see where the round ends and not too few to "keep an eye" on the last stitches to have them neat. :)

Irina - if I wanted to do a coloured stripe on each ridge, would I use the same technique? Would it require 2 balls of each colour?
@irinarevo2 жыл бұрын
Yes! This (helical garter) is the same as helical stripes, except instead of changing the colours we change the stitch pattern. Two balls of each colour - yes. :)

@@irinarevo Thanks for your reply. Just to be clear, I want to do garter stripes, changing colour each ridge.

I used 2 different balls of yarn - mine were of the same colour and yours can be of different colours.

Such an interesting video! Are the number of stitches same for ribbing and garter? Are the 2 yarns coming together for closing or do they remain 3 sts away? I wish you were close to me lol, i want to learn so much for knitting Irina, do you have any suggestion in buying a book (a good one to follow) in order to help me? I m stuck to the helmet w open face i was telling you about and try to figure out how to manage it

Hi Nella, the number of stitches in the rib and in garter does not have to match - it’s up to you what looks best for your project. The 2 yarns are always several stitches away from each other (it doesn’t have to be 3 stitches though, can be 6 or 15 like when I used the DPNs - you can choose). As for the book, the one that I think could be good for a beginner (and it is in English) is by Debby Bliss "The Knitter’s Book of Knowledge " It does not have everything, but it has good illustrations and comprehensive explanations :))

@@irinarevo Thank you for the reply and the suggestion

You are very welcome! By the way, if by "closing" you meant casting off/binding off, then yes, I would complete a full row at the end (knit or purl - would depend on your design idea) before binding off or switching to another stitch pattern. )
