Dear Mr. Engineer, please tell me something about double helical gears, especially the herringbone gears. Is there any preferred direction with those gears? If yes, then tell me why. I don't care oil circulation/expelling like a car rain-tires. It runs dry. Thank you!

Due to the fact that they have two opposing directions, they can perform well in any direction, and there is no preferred direction in helical gear.
