I have often used helicons to repair stripped thread in metal work. They are great and fairly simple to install. What was news to me are E-Z lok inserts. They kind of do the same thing as a helical but are made of a solid piece of steel (or stainless) so are potentially strong.
In this video I show how I fit a helical and an E-Z lok insert to an aluminium block and then try and rip it using excess force. Unfortunately, to fortunately depending on how you look at it, the 8mm bolts gave in before the inserts proving in my mind anyway that the inserts are very strong but not which is stronger!
I still think the winner would be the E-Z lok but today I could prove it!!
