Helicon Headquarters || Mic Mechanic 2 Firmware Update

This episode of Helicon Headquarters demonstrates the new features of the latest firmware update for the Mic Mechanic 2!
This update adds a new mode which links the footswitch to the Delay effect ONLY!!!! If you hold the Tone button while powering on the pedal, it will boot into a new mode where the Reverb effect is unaffected by the footswitch. This means you can have Reverb constantly active while toggling Delay on and off with the footswitch!
This setting is remembered across power cycles. To return the footswitch control to both the Delay and Reverb effects again, just repeat the process of holding Tone while powering on.
Tap Tempo timeout timer removed.
If you hold the footswitch down for two seconds while the pedal is on, you can tap-in the Delay's tempo. This new tap tempo feature no longer times out so the pedal will continue to blink at the Delay's tempo until you hold the footswitch again for another two seconds.

Thank you for this. I wish there was a quick way to get it back to the factory settings. I've accidentally either clicked the button twice or have held it down while on stage and I'm stuck with a setting I do not want. Otherwise, I love this pedal and have been using it for my live acoustic gigs for over a year.

Yeah there’s nothing in the manual about resetting back to factory. Maybe try downloading the latest firmware and installing it. Hopefully that will reset it. The new (to me) update is fantastic!

Is there a way to have the footswitch only turn the echo/delay knob on and off? I'd like to set the reverb at 1 setting via the knob. Same with the pitch correction. Then turn on the echo on and off via the switch as a cool vocal effect only for certain sections of a song. I always want to have the pitch correction and a little reverb on... not just when I engage the switch. Does that make sense?

New in box, it has a squealing oscillator sound. Did I just get a bad one? I read a lot of people that have this situation, dating back to 2021. Mine was purchased in May of 2023 and the oscilator sound will not stop unless the power is off. Running off fresh batteries so it's not and bad power supply.

Yes you got a bad one. Return it until you get one that doesn’t do that.

Mine did this too. I corrected it by downloading the latest VoiceSupport 2 software. Uninstalled the old software and installed the new. Connected right up. The new firmware is a big improvement!

Hello: I am writing here to see if some kind soul can help me, since I am quite desperate with the subject: I have a TC Helicon mic mechanic, well, I go to their website, I download the firmware and it doesn't recognize it, it only recognizes an old update from 2014, there is no way to update it, (unless I'm doing something wrong, which I doubt) since in its day I updated it without problem, but now the echo selection only does 3 repetitions that are barely noticeable when there is music in between. Make double sure you downloaded the correct software for your pc/Mac. Uninstall the old software and install the new. It should fire right up. Mine did. Also, to adjust the feedback (repeats) hold the tone button and adjust the correction knob. Clockwise gives you more feedback, counter clockwise is the least amount you can get.

Hold the tone and turn the delay knob to change number of repeats

@@Madsher I updated my Mic Mechanic 2 on a MAC yesterday evening (December 2020) You just need to install the program VoiceSupport2. After installation,- close the program VoiceSupport2 Also, remember to plug-in the USB connection to Mic Mechanic 2 before re-opening the program VoiceSupport2. Then open the program and scan for devices. Voilá, the Mic Mechanic 2 appears and you can update the firmware It works perfectly fine. I am getting a terrible buzzing sound when I use this foot pedal. I sent the first one back and I am getting the same sound from the new one as well. I’ve tried using batteries as well as the power supply and the humming is still there. The buzzing only happens when I use the foot pedal. No issue with mic plugged directly into the amp or other outputs. Please help as I don’t want my money thrown away purchasing your product that I can’t use.

I have the same issue!! I sent one back already, the new one has the same exact noise. I've recorded the noise and uploaded a short video as I'm trying to figure out what's wrong with it. I have tried everything, too, from batteries, to bringing it to a different studio, different set up, I tried with no mixer, I tried treating it as a ground loop.. but the noise is always there and it's always the same. I came here trying to see if updating it might help...? Were you able to fix the issue?

@@VeronicaZanchi 2023 - May, the same boat anchor is still fresh off the Amazon shelves. No one is addressing this it looks like. Wonder why the company will not respond to all the reports of this. Going on since 2021. How old is the MM2 anyway? And when are they going to recall them?

@Fast Byte I sent back both the MM2 and I got a MM1 in the end. No noise whatsoever. It's amazing with supercardiods, but I was never able to make it work well with cardioids.

Live2Shred Mic Mechanic 2 has the effects names (Echo, Reverb, Correction) on top of the rotary buttons; the first version has the names on the bottom of the rotary buttons. First version also has a gain adjustment on the left side of the unit.

@@Agarwal6 thanks. I ended up buying a version 2. I guess the main difference is the change in DC voltage to 9 volt to make it more compatible with multiple outlet power distribution boxes. This thing sounds great! I put the autocorrect just slightly over the middle setting and the other settings depend mostly on the environment, or the audio (Karaoke) track quality and mix.
