A word of wisdom, BUY THIS ... AND DO NOT LOAN these units to any one! I bought two of the original Mic Mechanics. I bought one for myself and allowed a friend to use it ... He is no longer a friend cause he kept it! I bought another one and loaned it to my nephew. Guess what? Yep, he kept it too! I won't hate him cause he's family BUT i'm definitely not passing the gravy to him. DRY STUFFING FOR YOU PUNK! Mic mechanic is worth it. Lots of gain. Great adaptive tone (EQ and compression and de-essing AND sweet reverb/delay (tap tempo) and you van have a slight touch of pitch correction. NOW I'M MAD AGAIN! DO NOT LAON THESE TO ANYONE!

what if I want to turn off the delay but keep the reverb (live verse vs Chorus). Can I just turn off the delay?
@kiskadar69 Жыл бұрын
Yes, you can. Mic Mechanic 2 firmware Build 20 adds a new mode which links the footswitch to the Delay effect only. If you hold the Tone button while powering on the pedal, it will boot into a new mode where the Reverb effect is unaffected by the footswitch. This means you can have Reverb constantly active while toggling Delay on and off with the footswitch. This setting is remembered across power cycles. To return footswitch control to both the Delay and Reverb effects again, just repeat the process of holding Tone while powering on. If the feature does not work, you will need to update the Mic Mechanic firmware using VoiceSupport 2.

The big question is, can the Tone button be customised? I don't feel comfortable leaving all choice to a preset with some unspecified vocal aesthetics in mind. The technology seems powerful and like the real deal though, so if I can upload my own Tone setting it'd be great.
@tchelicon7 жыл бұрын
MM2 has a "normal" and "less bright" tone style. We don't do any customization of tone until you get into VoiceLive 3. Generally, it's meant to be a single automatic function. It does adapt to each voice that's singing, it's not just a static group of settings. You'd want to ensure that no eq, comp, de-ess, gate are being used on the FOH mixer so they don't double up on what Tone is doing.
@ElBlancoPapi7 жыл бұрын
It's a way to get you decent "tone" automatically and still keep the unit crazy cheap. You cannot expect more for $150....really, you shouldn't expect to get something THIS good for that amount.

For live gigs can be usefull as mixer board is out of reach, and technicians dont know what goes in each song, but still thinking if EQ from pedal can be compatible with a reEQ from mixer, i am not shure that EQ in mixers can be switched of, their knobs can be turn down wich is not good, correct me if am wrong, i dont have the mixer yet. Anyways a combination of Pedal EQ & Mixer EQ would be great. Is it posible?

I know it's probably not what this pedal is aiming too, but I'd love to be able to switch the delay independently from the reverb. Just because I like my reverb all the time but maybe just want to through some repeats here and there. And of course I just bought a replacement for my old Mic Mechanic, after the first one stopped working. Argh. (But I'm not really complaining. I bought the first one used, so there was no warranty "implied or expected." When TC Helicon's service center couldn't repair it, they offered me a rebuilt one for a good price.) I'm happy to have another MM to go with my VoiceTone Singles (C1/D1/E1/H1/R1/T1/X1). The 9V/AA batteries feature on the "Generation 2" MM sounds good, but I've gotten used to carrying an extension cord and an outlet strip in one of my gear bags. If my replacement MM ever quits, maybe I'll get one of the newer models. Keep up the good work, TCH.

Hello: I am writing here to see if some kind soul can help me, since I am quite desperate with the subject: I have a TC Helicon mic mechanic, well, I go to their website, I download the firmware and it doesn't recognize it, it only recognizes an old update from 2014, there is no way to update it, (unless I'm doing something wrong, which I doubt) since in its day I updated it without problem, but now the echo selection only does 3 repetitions that are barely noticeable when there is music in between. Thank you very much in advance, greetings.

At 2:12 There's a harsh bright feedback in this video. I get this nearly always when the tone button is depressed. I've taken out all EQ on the PA which helped slightly. Suggestions?
@tchelicon7 жыл бұрын
Yep, you should definitely remove any EQ, Comp, De-Ess and Gate (and any other effects) at the PA. You can also try the "less bright" Tone style that rolls off a touch of the top end. Press and hold the Tone button and tap the footswitch to toggle modes. It's definitely a fine balance for feedback. We want to get the most "air" on the voice so it sounds great, but that will always have a negative impact on your max gain before feedback via monitors, which is exactly what happened in the video. We left it in, since sh!t happens to us too. ;)

Thank you for the reply, but can I ask why this isn't in the manual? I just went back and read it again and none of this information is in the manual (the manual that also isn't included with the pedal) Nothing that says, "download the manual here". How would you chain this and the harmony singer, bearing in mind the harmony singer needs guitar input for harmonies ?
@tchelicon7 жыл бұрын
Hi there. There's no hard rule here. Seeing as Mic Mechanic offers echo as an effect, running the repeated voices thru harmony could create a bit of a mess, whereas trying to pitch correct harmony voices could also create problems. Which order you chain them would really depend on which effects you desire to use simultaneously.

Adaptive tone has nothing to do with tuning/pitch. The Tone feature adds compression, EQ, de-essing, and gating to your voice, all features to give your voice the clarity, warmth, and definition that it deserves. HOWEVER; the 1 second holding of the switch to engage tap mode, was ideal -- is it the same 1 second hold? or is it longer/shorter?

TC-Helicon just had my first play on it... initial thoughts. green light in top now just indicates power and doesn't indicate signal? that signal LED was very useful, just for checking the mic and the cable were working fine if having any issues. the three way split dials are an improvement but still... unless you give these dials a LOT more tension (they're more tense the MM1 but will still move with a slight knock) if i want the tape effect on full, one little knock and will take it from loudest tape to quietest digi - even still, you COULD keep this format of dial but just rearrange the styles. probably the least used style 'slap' has the luxury of being last, which means if you turn this up full it's safe from being knocked into the next style. digi delay which is going to be arguably the most popular should be last in my opinion the on off button on the back? does this turn the power on or off? the battery on or off? the power supply??? it would be ideal if this switch meant you could keep 4 batteries in and just turn them on or off using this switch? maybe this is what it does? hopefully so. the pro's - the tap feature is still the same time to engage, the dials are SLIGHTLY more tense, the correction seems to be better but not had the chance to fully test this yet, although to be honest it's a feature i never use anyway. the battery compartment screw should've been a flat head for plectrums as opposed to phillips, and also it reaches right to the bottom, putting your bottom strip of velcro on the bottom is going to cover the screw. i've made a little short demo of its features which ill be uploading soon and will be sure to earn you a few sales too... look forward to the mic mechanic 3 already and i've also got a few million dollar ideas for new pieces of equipment too :)

Run it on its own power supply may help the hum.

Can you run this through multiple inputs? Like have multiple mics on one Mechanic?

Does it say it has multiple inputs anywhere? One mic.

the pedal sounds great! is there a knob to turn down the sexual tension?

No but it makes toast and a cold shower.

will the adaptive EQ only work for vocals...?
@tchelicon7 жыл бұрын
Generally yes. It's designed to remove mud and brighten up the signal relative to a vocal input. You can use it on other things, but it might not have as desirable an outcome. If the instrument or other source has similar frequencies to a voice, it could do pretty well. I'm thinking of maybe saxophone or similar instruments. It must be monophonic though for it to work. Guitar or other chorded instruments wouldn't fare well.

This pedal looks really nice. But I had a question: Why not use the 48v phantom power supply to power the pedal? That would be really great... I don't know if it's technically possible.
@kiskadar69 Жыл бұрын
I don't think it's possible, because Mic Mechanic 2 has a relatively high current consumption: 670mA (I know, it says "300mA").

Does anyone know if the tap tempo is stored when unplugged?
