When I was a kid and dreamed of owning my own helicopter, this is EXACTLY the sort of thing I envisioned doing: just mooching around the sky, looking for cool things in remote areas that no-one else could see or find. Then swooping down in my 'copter and landing to check it out.

If you can find a spot to land down in the canyon below, I bet you'd find Wyle E.'s daredevil suit and the tiny umbrella he used to break his fall when he figured out that ACME engine was failing 😂

I'm betting that somewhere up there on that mountain was a communications station or some other structure or equipment that required power. Some turbine engines were used for power generation and can run continuously given enough fuel supply. Low maintenance. Just a thought.

@@helihaus Your video reminded me of a story my CFII (ATP Helicopter, MEI) told me once. He was flying a Bell 206 over a range like was in your video and he had to piss. So he sat down on what he thought was stable ground, tightened the friction, and hopped out to relieve himself. Well, the helo shifted and got his foot stuck as he was getting out. Had to dig him self out with his hands and pocket knife. Bob had a ton of stories and I miss him very much. Safe flying!

Hello, ranchers would buy ( or win at auction) military surplus items. In ArIzona I have seen many G.E. metal barrels that were used to transport a engine of some kind, they were green in color and had military markings . These metal barrels were a little longer than a 55 gallon barrel and a little wider. The ranchers unbolted them and it split in two length wise and used them to hold feed for cattle, very thick steel and indestructible. Maybe they (miners or ranchers ) hauled this well built box up that mountain on skids with a older caterpillar tractor with an oil bath air cleaner.Possibly for temporary shelter or for storage?Just a thought. Thanks for posting this, very exciting!

I have come across things like this ,all over the Nevada desert that is military just dumping un-wanted or worthless junk . The best one was a wooden crate (about 4 feet square) that was FILLED with soft camo tops for Humvee's back when the US first started using them . All of these were in very remote, very 4WD area's , just like this one . Anyone have an Idea which river that is ???

1) That air cleaner is definitely from a surface vehicle. 2) Old crates often get re-purposed. I suspect they may have arrived on an old pickup truck, and been intended for firewood. There didn't appear to be any hardware other than the crate and air filter, so what we KNOW is that the crate was left here, whether it was empty or full - possibly with something else inside, we have no evidence of it

Looked like something had been slightly dragged for just a few feet. I couldn’t figure it out at first, but then realized: it had to be helicopter skids.
