It just occurred to me, whether a helicopter lift isn't cheaper than, for example, with a C. 208 prop?

Helicopter lifts are usually more expensive than a lift in a airplane. We have a King Air and a Pac at my home DZ and it cost $34 for a lift ticket out of those. This helicopter jump which was out of a Bell 247 I believe cost $90.

@@ChuteHer The helicopter for this jump was a Bell 407. A Bell 407 and a C208 have roughly the same hourly operating cost. The C208 will climb higher with four times as many passengers than a 407. Usually, helicopter jumps are glorified hop n' pops, but in this case the powerful turbine-powered 407 was able to get more altitude for some freefall.

Do it! You won’t regret it. There’s obviously always a chance of this happening. But it’s less likely than you think. Everyone has two parachutes so if the first one doesn’t work you have your reserve. The chances of them both having issues is unlikely. Go out and do it. You got this! 😊🪂

the idea of doing it on a helicopter scares me even more than a plane, on a plane jumping off is quick like ripping off a bandaid but the fact a helicopter just can hover and you can balance on the rim is so spaghetti leg enducing to me, I would have shat myself at that point 😰
