Because summer extends from December to February in Australia, with fire season typically peaking in late January or early February. This is absolutely not caused by humans, absolutely not. There has been massive efforts all over Australia by all levels to help the wildlife recover. Also, try to remember some of these areas have only recently stopped being on fire. The last shot is misleading. Those carrots weren't dropped from a helicopter, they were placed by hand. The carrots were bundled and not scattered as if thrown from a helicopter.

Don't need to plant trees. The Australian bush has adapted to bushfires over 1000s of years. You will hardly be able to tell that a fire has been through there in a few years because it recovers so fast. Some species actually need fire to germinate.

Wallabies love their carrots. I bought carrots and lucern for the starving kangaroos in Waanyarra Victoria. In human terms this is like feeding them a lamb roast.
