Helios 16 Review: With Great Power Comes Great Thermal Concerns?

I just purchased the helios 16 2024 (i9 14th gen, Rtx 4070)version for 1.9L on amazon and sale. Upgrading the ram and ssd through service centre was a no go with them charging 1475 for such a simple task. I had purchased my own ram and ssd so acer said that even if i pay the service charge the warranty would be void. Ended up doing it on my own. Camera and Speakers are shit, but everything else is just top notch. BIOS is for namesake, not much to control from there unlike Lenovo or Alienware. Weight and build is like a tank. Very happy with the laptop, but the service is horrible.

Yeah, once you go past the 4060, you really start to see diminishing returns. For example, the 4080 with 12GB VRAM will set you back at least ₹2.5 lakhs. The 4070 doesn’t give you any more VRAM compared to the 4060, but you do get a bit more power and an extra 10-15 FPS. This might be useful for some people, but it’s a pretty small group.

Your video is really great. No unnecessary drama. good job. I added 16GB extra Ram from crucial. When I check now, it shows total 32GB Ram but there is no performance improvement. One more thing I notice after adding the RAM is, earlier the RAM speed was 5600 mhz. But after adding 16GB extra Ram it is showing 5200 mhz. I don't know why? Can you please tell me what is the reason behind this?

Nahi bhai, I didn’t face any instability in regards to the processor, aur mere wale me 13th gen i9 hai toh can’t say the same about the 14th gen chips, but I’ve heard some people are facing problems.

Those temps while gaming are not looking good , were u using it in performance mode ?

I am using Turbo Mode, no AC or Fan. And yes the temps are on the higher side, but acceptable considering the situation. Some units perform better than the other, some worse, it's mostly due to a poor application of the thermal paste.

I am using Transcend's 5600MHz DDR5 CL46 RAM, it never gave me any issues, for the SSD most brands work, I am using a WD Blue 1 TB Gen 4.

@@User3.3.3 The same RAM will work with the i9 14th Gen as well. This is a solid choice, especially considering the limited options available in India. As long as the RAM is 5600MHz DDR5 with a CL46 latency, it will be compatible with the Predator. Personally, I haven't experienced any issues with mine.

While it’s unlikely that the laptop will ever reach its maximum wattage, it’s safer to choose an inverter based on a baseline of 230W for peace of mind.

Bhai maine detail mai build quality ke baare mai baat kari hai video mai, aur baat rahi ki HP, Acer se kyun mehenga hai similar specs pe? Build quality reason nahi hai, in my experience Victus aur Omen series ka build Predator se worse hai, mainly bas brand premium charge kar rahe hai, aur kyunki Acer has a “cheap” brand image, acer ki pricing generally bohot competitive rehti hai. Agar aapko better build chahiye toh Legion ya Dell pe nazar daalo.

Don't go for Asus tuf. I purchased Asus tuf first. But the performance was not good. So I sold that immediately and purchased the same laptop which is shown in this video. The performance of this laptop is awesome.

I haven’t had the opportunity to experience the after-sales service yet. The Legion was significantly more expensive than the Predator, and there wasn’t an equivalent model with similar specs available at that time.
