In terms of pcmark 10 test on my Helios neo 14900 4070 compared with test result of legion 14900 4070 in the famous website “notebook “ review , Helios neo is better with Pcmark 10 score reach 9100 while legion remains less 9000, where there is about 3% to 5% gap between them. In game, the speed of my neo even reach 8000, I can not believe my eyes. The popular Ssd speed read test indicates that my neo is over unbelievable 7000, while its write speed is also amazing fast than most ssd including legion 5 pro. But its 4K read and write speed is 10% to 15% slow than legion 14900 4070.

I so appreciate your reasonable and fair explanations. So many other channels talk about how one laptop "destroyed" and "defeated" the other in performance tests that are less than 15 percent different. Here you attribute some of the difference to just luck (i.e. better silicon). And you could have really been tough on that Legion's screen, which is so much worse in every measurable way than the Helios. However, you keep pointing out that Lenovo offers another display option that will likely be comparable to the Helios' screen. Thanks, JT, for another great video. Have a great weekend man.

As a computer shop employee, I often test new gaming laptops during my free time to provide accurate recommendations to our customers. Based on my observations, models from Acer, Asus, and MSI (High End) consistently perform well under continuous load. However, laptops from Lenovo, Dell, and HP tend to experience a noticeable drop in performance over time, sometimes even causing lag during gameplay.

I bought Acer Helios Neo 16 i7 14700hx and RTX 4060 Version. I wanted to go with Legion for the same specs but the only thing that stopped me from purchasing Legion was that it doesn't have Thunderbolt ports. It's 2024 and even $800 - $1000 laptops come with at least 1 thunderbolt Port. I don't understand why Lenovo chose to not give Thunderbolt port in their laptops this year where as every other Brand is considering giving it away in their hier tier Gaming Laptops 🥲 Personally I am already happy with my Acer Helios Neo 16 since it's my first Gaming Laptop and Performance that offers this device is more than enough for me for Works like doing After Effects and Premier Pro and Davinci Resolve. I rarely do gaming 😅 It would be so hactic for me on the Legion because of its too much configurable settings in the Lenovo Vantage Software. Got the helios neo 18 (yes the 18 inch one) with the 240hz qhd+ screen, i9, rtx 4070, 32Gigs of ram and 1TB of storage for 1699, I'd say that's a good deal considering the extra screen size and i9 boost. I had a 16~1700 budget so I think I made a good purchase. Hopefully the temps are even better in the neo 18 cause of its larger build.

I had a acer nitro 5 ryzen 7 5800h + rtx 3080. The powerbrick itself only really provided ~130 watts or so. So in anything cpu and gpu heavy you were draining the battery. Found it a weird design choice and during a longer gaming session you might have ended up with 40% battery left while plugged in. Not really a great design imo, for multiple reasons. Batteries deteriorate so your session time even while plugged in would get shorter and shorter. I think it should be mandatory for a laptops powerbrick to fully sustain the system under heavy load and the battery being not touched in any way when plugged in. Definitely a way of manufacturers to cut costs, but a bad way imo.

Can this affect the monitor? For example, on a 2024 Acer Predator Helios 16 with a hot i9 14900hx processor. This might be a topic for a new video, thank you.

I'm rocking a Nitro 2022 with a 3070ti and 17-12560h whihc i added 16 gb ram to make it 32 gb ram and since Jarrod showed us how 3070ti is closer in performance to 4070 than you might think it is making me super satisfied that i chose acer over a somewhat superior but much more expensive Lenovo. PS I was pleasantly surprised by the wins by the Helios... i fully expected the lenovo to outperform! Wow For those curious I bought the Acer Nitro for 1230$ ish and got a RAM for another 40$ ish in my currency. So yea Acer all the way... meawhile Lenovo never offered a 3070ti in my country and only sold underpowered 3050 and 4060 or 1600$ 4070 granted with ddr5 ram but still almost 33% costlier.

Hi Jarrod! I'm in a specs pickle at the moment. It happens that in my country, the Helios Neo 16 with i9 14th gen + 4060 is priced the same as the 2023 Legion 5 Pro with i9 13th gen + 4070. I work from home, but it is mostly office stuff, and when I game I do on a 1080p 144hz monitor. What would be the better pick, hands down? Thanks man!
@yesyesyesnoooo77627 ай бұрын
For me they're basically the same, 14th gen is just a bit bumped up 13th gen, 4070 is almost same as 4060 - because of the power limits you won't see the max potential for both unless you buy a Legion 7i Pro with 4080. The only diff between them is the brand and the design. But I'm a Legion fanboy so I bought me myself a 2023 Legion 5i Pro with max specs (maybe same as one of your choices). It's great so far, I use it for video editing, the 4070 is a bit lacking if you'll be doing 3d stuff or any gpu intensive content creation projects but it plows down games like a snow plow in winter. I'm happy for you whatever you choose man!
