@@InvestorBren omg, so much to get into, I was an RF tech over a decade, and also taught it to high school kids(arts academy in LA) for years...spent a lot of time in the 900 MHZ range. 1st) ur right, height is key, next to the actual position of the hotspot and the ants LOS(line of sight) 2) dBi choice is key for the area you are and where you want to "talk" to 3)time of day, weather, ambient RF "noise", and more can have an effect on send and receive[thats y I recommend test times of 24-72 hours for good data on mining results] 4) cable and connections MATTER!, buy quality and use LM-400 for ant cable runs over any distance and a "must" for outdoor runs. The weakest link in the signal chain will be what breaks the connection 9/10 times. 5) one can use ants inside, Ive seen windows to attic spaces[no insulation up top is better]. It's easy to weather proof when its all indoors lol, and usually short cable runs to the ant...so much more...but this is a start without "getting into the weeds", so to speak. Happy mining all!! 😁👍

Putting it near a window is NOT necessary and may actually reduce the range. Basically the only materials that interfere with the signal are metals, water/moisture (incl. humidity and water stored in plants), and reflective materials such as glass (especially if it has a UV coating!!). Dried wood (framing) or clay (bricks), asphalt shingles, etc. are all perfectly fine. I moved my hotspot to the attic without windows and it's performed way better. Can you maybe do a quick video on say, if you own a 5 or 10 sq mile piece of land and you had 3-5 units, what would be the IDEAL setup pattern to forge your own network in the most efficient way? Would it be buying like 5 and putting on in center and the rest in a square equidistant from the center point at about 310 meters away from it, or buy 4 and one center, 3 triangle vertices around the center, or like 5 all on a straight line for max land area coverage, each 310 meters apart or like 500 meters apart? I hope you see what I am asking, to starting building an ideal network shape from scratch. (I understand none of this would be perfect, just want the concept of how)

Which miner is the best? Thanks
@InvestorBren3 жыл бұрын
it's hard to say, they all have some small benefits over the other, bobcat is a bit more expensive but gives you a better antenna, but you can perfectly buy a rak and then buy a stronger antenna, etc. I would personally contact all, ask the delivery times and then take the one that can deliver the fastest I hope to do a test on signal strength etc. but because rewards go up and down throughout the week because of the network, it's almost impossible to say if miner A mines better as miner B etc.
if you have 3 of them, where do you place them? all of them in your house? Or Do you place each of them at your friend's house? Currently I don't have any miners at all. Because if you place them all in your house, then all three of them are in RED Zone where there is no rewards. f you have 3 of them, where do you place them? all of them in your house? Or Do you place each of them at your friend's house? Because if you place them all in your house, then all three of them are in RED Zone where there is no rewards. So my question is, how do you place the extra miner(s) when you get the extra one? Because you can't ask your neighbor to put it inside their house. lol. I am sorry. I am new to this. I am thinking about buying 10 of them. Should i buy all Nebra or Bobcat? whats your recommendation if you can buy multiple of them to start? because, i can't get it now anyways.... must wait until July. Thank you for your post and your fast reply.

Dude it's crazy, I should receive my Rak in May/June. Can't believe my location is that perfect, after stimulation hitting 1 Reward and the 5 or 6 Hotspot around me (not to close / not to far) are hitting between 60 and 187 per week! Is that possible? Taking an avg 80 per week and 15$ HNT it's 1200$ per week?
@InvestorBren3 жыл бұрын
thanks for watching and yes, on a good location at current prices that would be possible. However: do keep in mind, right now "only" 30K hotspot are live and 200K are coming in. All hotspot are sharing the max. rewards that can be mined in a month. More hotspots = more people to share. On top of that there is a halving in august. So please keep in min that the current price + rewards = a unique time, it wont last. On the other hand: more hotspots means that the Helium network is more valuable, which should increase the price of HNT and then our reward in USD will still be good even if we get less HNT. So my suggestion is to mentally prepare for less HNT in the summer

it's possible if they are positioned well, however those rewards will go down as 100.000 hotspots will join the network, in the next 3 months and we'll all be sharing the rewards

Little bit confused.. what's better reaching 4 green hotspots or 8 green hotspots. Sure, there is the splitting factor which becomes present but when 10 green hotspots share their earning with you it's better than 4 green ones isn't it?
@InvestorBren3 жыл бұрын
reaching 8 green ones is better, the splitting will occur between everyone who is reaching the green dot. Meaning if you have a bunch of spread out hotspots that can't reach each other, but you have an epic location and reach all of them, then you'll get full rewards for witnissing each one of them

Hotspots RF is a must have to tool for building out. Btw, if you have more than one, should each have a separate HNT wallet or does it make a difference in the rewards having all on one wallet address?
@InvestorBren3 жыл бұрын
it makes no difference, so it's easier to connect them all to one wallet. But from a security standpoitn, you could consider limiting the nr of hotspots linked to 1 wallet

hi bren , I live in the city centre and yes there is a lot tall buildings around but I live in 14th floor , do you think I will have a good sight ? what is the best hotspots to start with 1 - Rak , 2 - Nebra , 3- bobcat ?
@InvestorBren3 жыл бұрын
14th floor is great and I would buy the hotspots that will be delivered the fastest. If they are delivered equally fast and money is not an issue and you'll place it indoor, I would go for the bobcat. RAK also works well (i have a RAK) and is cheaper as the Bobcat. Nebra I still have to test/still waiting. Bobcat should arrive next week, but on paper Bobcat has the strongest antenna en CPU (but that shouldn't matter much in this stage of the project)
