Heljan Hymek with legomanbiffo DCC sound

A brief video of my Hymek DCC sound project. The loco is fitted with a 23mm round speaker in the fuel tanks, which have been turned into an airtight enclosure. The sounds were recorded from D7076 at the East Lancs Railway. Filmed on Steve Brammer's superb layout.

Reminds me of the visit to the GWR a couple of years back . A great model,coupled with your excellent file and the speaker adds to the experience. I'll most definitely be adding this to my hydraulic fleet come Christmas time !

WaZZeR Rocks different speakers like iPhone ones work better on their own with less low bassy sounds. So class 66 and other humming ones would be ok. But not really for a Hymek in my opinion . Although im surprised no EM of any sort hasnt been used for this ? Never the less it is a "like" from me !

Tim Huggins Mine is kitted out with an iPhone speaker in the roof and a sealed round 23mm one in the tanks, this way you get the raspy and bass sounds that the hymek provides. I'd recommend you try it before you say no, it will surprise you!

Did you fit them yourself ? And is that a 23mm round similar to the basic first ones that come by default in the decoder packs ?

Yes i did fit them myself, ive fitted all of mine and many in to friends locos, the 23 mm is the standard one you get. The key with that is to seal it airtight in the enclosure it comes with (ian told me that). Then you cut out the right sized hole in the bottom of the tanks, the speaker should face down. The iphone speaker is just fitted under the fan, with blue tack holding it in place. Hope that helps.

I'm new to all of this and DCC sound decoders bought with the models are just too expensive, I was thinking of adding custom sounds myself but I don't know where to start/find info on adding the sounds myself, any tips?
