Blimey, this is 80’s nostalgia week. Last night I was in Lyon to see « The Cure » and tonight I’m watching blue Peaks with blue and grey coaches I used to take to get to college in Swansea from home in Birmingham 😂

Sounds awesome, glad I could help continue the theme for the week! Also great memories by the sounds of it. On the return you must have gone up the Lickey Incline then right? That must have sounded epic with a 45 thrashing away at the front 🤔

Great video! I'm looking forward to receiving my Heljan Class 45 from Lord & Butler in Cardiff. I'm having it sound fitted. Your videos are excellent and I'm going to have to try some of the parallel running shots on my layout.

I’ve just had a really busy and tiring morning; I’ve come in and found this latest little video from you and just relaxed into it. Thoroughly enjoyed that from the locos and trains to the scenic layout and buildings and to the extraordinary production of the whole shebang! Please note that I am almost totally clueless about railways and model railways but I have been a scale modeller for nearly all of my 61 years and really appreciate the time and effort that must go into making something so visually appealing and generally, to me anyway, special. More power to your elbow!

Thanks again for such a lovely comment. the videos are indeed time consuming and a lot of planning effort goes int othem but I do enjoy doing them and comments such as yours make it more than worthwhile!

Peaky Blinders! Best episode yet. These look great on this amazing layout and the sound gives it a whole new dimension. I'd forgotten how dramatic the Peaks sounded and it brings back memories of seeing the blue versions in... the Peak District! Congratulations.

Big thanks MrT! They do sound amazing. I never sore / heard them in service as they were already pretty rare when I was a kid, and they never came to Kent in any case. However, they do really remind me of the noise the Class 33 Cromptons had passing our primary school on heavy coal trains. I understand that mechanically they were actually quite similar, both types being Derby / Sulzer machines. Oh and thanks, I might have to use the "Peaky Blinders" link in the title!

Superb, yet again. I’ve never noticed the slight banking on the rails through the platforms, how did you do that without risking a loss of electrical contact?
@NEVILLEGROVE2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Mike! The important thing is to have gradual transitions - both in terms of straight to curve, and also from camber to flat / level. A sudden change in direction is to be avoided where possible. You can use anything to pack out the raised side. Throughout the layout I’ve used a combination of thin foam underlay, cork and coffee stirrers (the layout was built on a shoe string so whatever was at hand). The key is consistency, and this needs to be tested exhaustively and adjusted as required.

I have one of these on my own layout, yes silky smooth and well built...........Absolutely lovely locomotives. I'm just waiting to get sound for mine. They had similar engines to the Class 47's, which might be why you remember the sound of them so well in Kent. I used to see them in the 1980's passing through Leicester on the Midland Main Line, always a worthy spot at the time. I never thought I'd miss them so much, but then nothing lasts forever. One question, can I ask, is there a reason some of your layout track is unballasted, is it just you haven't got round to it yet, or things are still changing? Any way thanks for a great video, really enjoyable as always. All the best Dave.
@NEVILLEGROVE2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Dave, glad you like your one too. The unballasted bit is simply because I haven’t had any time to work on the layout over the last couple of years 😅

OO Scale. The same scale as the Accurscale Deltic or the Heljan Class 45's
