You know, my boyfriend has been obsessed with these guys for a whole year now, and I think I've finally figured out what it is that enamors him so: this group is literally what you'd get if you took all of his inner thoughts, ideas, and personality, and turned them into a band. He is just 3 shitposts in a trench coat.
@deanmayberry9713 Жыл бұрын
Louis Cole is just Absurdist shitposting mostly with the music, but yeah. There's some Existential Philosophy embedded in this. If you're using your Jazz degree from USC to do this? Louis Cole and Sam Gendel are both heavily into Albert Camus and Postmodernism. They're both obviously very skilled musicians, but simultaneously? What does that actually matter in the grand scheme of it all? Neither of them appear to have inflated Egos on the matter despite their musical accolades. Just more cosmic cockroaches riding a rock and hurdling through the Universe like everyone else in the grand scheme of it all. I find comfort in that acknowledgement; other people find existential crises and cosmic horror in that acknowledgement.

I have an appreciation for putting in the time and effort to attain musical proficiency and then using that skill to convince people that you don't actually have it while just peppering in the evidence that you do like we're all in on a joke.

Everyone's talking about how great 1:04 is but honestly 0:54 is the most insanely impressive part to me. They had to sync that PERFECTLY, and I don't hear any kind of pulse at all. Just wow.

As a drummer, its not that hard. We would match the sax player. If i wer to do it, id just listen to how he does it multiple times, and my body just kind of learns it.
