That museum is much better than I expected. They did a great job and were well-staffed with knowledgeable staff.

It's hard to imagine what those soldiers went through , I spent an hour down in the pass last summer and was bitten to hell . RIP all the soldiers lost in conflicts

Good job Mike, you know some of our younger generation has no idea what it took for the Freedoms of the world. God Bless men and women in uniform. Safe travels.

This is so true. Todays youth think everything is free. Freedom is not free, men and woman have fought and died to keep that freedom.

Definitely Australian Gvt influence regarding safety at the site. The history behind it is humbling, the sacrifice of so many soldiers fighting to defend liberty. Some of history’s lessons are forgotten too quickly, and too easily.

This is true, so easily forgotten, may be repeated.

We went in Aug and the rains prevented us from actually entering the pass. -- It's a very somber place. The heat is intense and I can only imagine how it must have been for the POWs. -- We took a small tour to the pass, a great waterfall, and hot springs, and ended the day, riding on the railway cars along a river.
@JourneyswithMN Жыл бұрын
yes it is very somber, they definetly had it rough. The train ride was nice for us.

A lot of things we never studied in school about the wars. There were a couple kids walking the path, like us and stopping to take selfies, not sure if they knew they were walking in a war memorial. Visa is good now thanks to Gift and the salad was fantastic.

cool...I took the train from BKK to the river with my friend around 1970-71 when we were 11 or 12, hellfire pass as it is today was just a trail and we wanted to hike it all the way to 3 Pagoda pass on the Burma border, but we never made it. Big idea's in our youth, but execution was an issue. This facility and museums look great, I need to revisit this side of Thailand.
@JourneyswithMN Жыл бұрын
I would say its worth revisiting. As kids we have good immaginations and dreams.
