One cool scene in this movie that I haven't heard anyone mention: When Russell comes to the restaurant to join the rest of the cast and staff, the waiter tells him the kitchen is closed. He asks for some dinner rolls and a glass of red wine stating that he just wants to be with his people. This is a direct reference to the last supper where Jesus does communion (with bread and red wine) with his disciples, then dies on the cross sacrificing himself so that they can live. Small thing that only clicked to me at the very end.

Since we find out Russel is actually an angel, in response to those mentioning russel’s outward appearance making him look bad or scary, I want to add that angels in the Bible are descriptively terrifying and when they make themselves seen they usually tell humans be not afraid.

@@englishatheart Well that makes no sense. The Bible was written by people so it makes full sense that people would be frightened by the appearance of Angels as they're something they'd never have seen before. I'd imagine God wouldn't find his Angels scary. So what the Bible says is 100% what matters when talking about Angels considering its the source material and not from God's point of view.

I think they slide a religious clue about Russell in the bar scene before opening night. When he arrives and tries to order food, he is told that they don't have any of the items he wants, so he settles for some red wine and dinner rolls. The rolls and wine were brought out and people began taking some of the bread out of the basket (I can't remember the line, but Russell jokes about sharing) leaving him one. He talks for a bit and you only see him take a bite of bread and a sip of wine. I think he knew the bar didn't have any of the items he "ordered." He wanted the bread and wine for Last Communion.

It should be noted before Vanessa and her cameraman took part in taping what was going on with insomnia, no one from Russel's cast and crew were in any danger from Tully. I think it's because he used what he learned from Hellhouse and putting together Hellhouse two to create rules to prevent Tully from claiming victims until he agreed to let Vanessa taped what was going on and let the crew tape as well and even then at least try to keep anyone from entering the hotel at night. Becaise evem Jeff said on day one of documentary that they been at the Abadon for a month and only thing they experience was ghostly sightings or as he called; Abadon eyes.

I was just talking about this with my husband. *Spoilers* I understand the overall Children of the Corn-esque vibe & that if you walk into the grass, you get trapped in a never ending time loop of alternate dimensions where the only thing that is real is the rock. But by-goodness, it’s way too hectic with the “everything is grass” and the baby sacrifice. Steven King’s work is just too symbolic and doesn’t translate into film very well IMO. I need something tangible to watch. It seems that King movies only work when the director takes over creative control á la The Shining.

It’s honestly really refreshing seeing a franchise that ends with a definitive good ending. Most times it’s “good ending but the evil isn’t gone for good” for potential sequel or just to give the audience another scare or just flat out shitty endings.
@Wooperplus

If I'm not mistaken - the evil truly isn't beaten as I think the mc (i forget her name but she is the one filming for a documentary for her show or something) points out there are other incidents that have occurred similar to the hotel's. It's more like there are still portals out there to hell - which I'm not sure if the director is going to explore that or perhaps just end things completely with this third film.

I feel that this is a way to wrap up a series of movies quite nicely and not have to worry about needing more to fill in the gaps later on. The first two were doom and gloom, with no way out, as expected of horror movies, but the third one took care of the evil and finally put the 'monsters' to rest, with no more concern about them coming back or the chance that things could start up again. This is how I prefer movies to go, really press down on that horror factor, but make things wrap up and end with the literal ending of the film, whether in the very first one or at the end of a series. I didn't have to spend my time questioning why I should be afraid, why people kept returning, or why Toley was defeated/portal was closed, because the movie explained it without dumping everything my lap. Take note, my horror directors, producers, and companies, this is more of the way to go with telling a story; just maybe re-work the second part a little more. xDD

I actually really loved this series, have since I saw the first one a couple years ago. I think the acting leaves a little something to be desired but considering they make up their casts of actors who aren't well known yet, it can probably be chalked up to inexperience. (Plus good on them for using actors who haven't had a chance to make it big yet) I really loved how they ended the series too, it felt clean and sensible, I'm glad they didn't rush it.

13 ghosts would be quite an interesting "ending explained" just your take on the the plot and your take on the 12 ghosts/demons?? Idk if there is actual known demons used in its story or, if most are made up with. With some being surprisingly criptic and creepy while others most definitely being on the far more "campy" side... The girl in the blood bath with his daughter checking out the bathroom, not realizing that the creepy as fuck girl is in the 🛁 full of BLOOD... Uhh yeah that bothered me pretty f'n baf uggghh!!!
