It’s a common trope to see the devil endowed with a violin. saying it’s “a fiddle” is a colloquial thing. Americans and westerners in general don’t say it’s a Violin if someone is playing Fiddle music because the instrument is not the question , the music style is. Depending on the music style it’s either a fiddle or a violin to us. You wouldnt say someone playing classical music on a violin, is good at playing fiddle. Same way you wouldn’t say someone playing “a” fiddle is good at Violin(Violin implies classical music).
