I adore how unlike Geoff John's Flashpoint sequels just repeatedly resurrecting and killing him because immortal time villain is scary and a free stakes raiser, DCAMU Thawne canonically goes "IT WAS ME BARRY" *gunshot*... "Oh crap I have a hole in my head. I'm gonna die! I can't stop Barry or move anywhere near fast enough to keep up with him now and I'm going to Hell! Wow I wasted my life being petty!" It's such a perfect way to disempower and end the life of the pettiest supervillain.

From when I first saw this movie, I came to a headcanon about the card that I feel like supports the themes of the movie well- That it works, as advertised, honestly... but was made be Demons as bait. So much of the film is damned people refusing to seek redemption, chasing the card instead and damning themselves further for it- Zoom, Savage, and Waller all off the top of my head, having not seen it in awhile. If Waller had *tried* to make amends and redeem herself for her sins in the time she spent sending task force X after the card, she might've been able to make peace and find some manner of redemption. But by the end, she takes the card, now an empty lie, and thinks herself untouchable by hell. What a perfect trap for demons to lay, don't you think? To leave mortals scrambling and murdering and slaughtering eachother all on the empty promise of a salvation they could have *tried* to seek the proper way, but it's easier for them to keep doing the very things that damned them for the fleeting promise of a possibility that will always slip through their fingers. And in the end, almost by some quiet miracle, it goes to someone who *was* trying for redemption. Someone who was repentant, and fighting to be better.

I hated this version of waller. Look i love waller but this is not her i prefer fat waller but personality wise she suck. Waller would never want the card as she is self righteous and believe she is correct because she is most of the time. A proper end would be her getting the card intact then destroying it and saying that it was to make sure that all those super villain would not assume that they can break the rules. She doesn't even need to believe it just her saying people's should own their actions and that this card is just creating chaos everywhere it goes

I love animated suicide squad movies out of all the DC stuff, bc even when the stakes and tone are serious, the vibe overall isn’t overly serious. The criminals never take themselves too seriously, they all honestly just wanna gtfo, and are pretty desensitized to gore. The JL hero’s would’ve turned away if someone’s head popped, but the SS would not only look but react or joke about it. It’s like if a classic cartoon like Looney Toons had real lasting consequences to being shot or hit with and anvil, I love it

A few summers ago I ripped through all the the DC animated films I could get my hands on, and this one was easily a favorite if not the top. I certainly found it beautiful in a way that I wouldn't have expected. Super hero movies may be in an overabundance currently but I always appreciate their root nature of being able to tell any story in the guise of some goofy looking people, so when they're good it's like "tricked ya here's genuine feelings and something to think about!"

They say god has a Plan for us, but also that God through Free Will gave us the power to Choose, and even when we choose poorly, so long as we're willing to walk it ... a path to forgiveness remains open. Atleast thats what this movie, and especially our two leads in this movie represent to me.

The fact that Deadshot doesn't believe actually makes the moment with Bronze Tiger greater. He really doesn't care about the card, but knows full well that chance to see his love again meant everything to Bronze Tiger. So he simply gave the card anything and didn't expect anything to happen, but absolutely didn't regret his decision. Deadshot isn't like Bronze all in occupation, but is a professional who can empathise and respect the man for what he had gone through. Which made the idea that Waller was implied to have killed him off at the last minute in front of his daughter more deplorable. The whole ticking bomb, the fact that he doesn't return again within that universe, creates the idea of two endings. One that he got to enjoy his freedom and start anew, and the other that cements Waller as a truly terrible person.

The movie is fast, and a good time, with a nicely done trope, within it. I think if one wants to look deeper, it’s that the card doesn’t matter, as within even DC comics, characters like Bronze Tiger, would never be doomed to some hell dimension. I mean, there are so many afterlife’s, it just gets ridiculous. Yet, if you take it as the generic version, of the heaven and hell theological idea, it gives a nice payoff for all these characters, and how they die, trying to get it. Then Waller, taking the useless artifact. I mean, you really believe she’s not going to have the card verified, for whether it’s been used, by whomever she has to?
@thefez-cat
@thefez-cat Жыл бұрын
Consider that Bronze Tiger _would_ get the afterlife he expects, simply because that's the one he is expecting. If the card does something, then clearly there's a Hell to get out of free.

this cartoon felt so underappreciated, and I was hoping someone would make a video showing their appreciation for it so I'm glad you recently decided to cover it. I really loved zoom's storyline and hope they revisit more stories with him and really dive into his origin story and flesh his character out in another cartoon movie. I also thought tiger's character was a bit cliché but by the end of it I actually resonated with his character and took a liking to it, even though I was kinda hoping zoom would have ended with the card since he is such a cool villain especially since his story was a continuation from flash point.
