I don't think we will see another person like Shawn for a long, long time. Perhaps we never will.

Agreed. As Guthrie Govan said, "There will be another Shawn Lane". The man was a musical genius.

yep, when I said this is as sweet as it gets, I meant it in both technical and musical terms. A genius of the highest order indeed.

The 40-year-old guitarist left behind a legacy of musicianship that definitly should have elevated his status far beyond that of a cult hero to worshippers of over-the-top guitar playing. but it does make sense to me how such an amazing musician could benefit playing under the radar because then he could truly without any negative pressure practice what he truly loved to do. RIP Shawn Lane

Ok. I actually got my start in bassin' from Hellborg. My brother's friend met him in Sweden and had him come to NY to visit. While he was here he auditioned for the Brecker brothers. He had this demo cassete I got a copy of called 'A basic thing'. That demo ROCKED. I wish I still had it. AFAIK he's never released any of that material with anyone else. I dunno. But I still love Jonas Hellborg. He's one of the best bass players out there.

That album is on KZbin. Nice vinyl rip, too. You hear the scratches. He also has a second solo album, also just bass, also on YT.
