I have been with JM during a sound check in 1992 in Getxo Jazz Festival with JOHN MCLAUGHLIN TRIO (with Di Piazza) and I was surprised for John´s modesty and normal way of being! I think one thing is to be a kind person and other thing is working everyday during 2 ó 3 years making music. I´m not always in the same humour with my group´s musicians. Remember how Lennon and Mcartney made some time bad words one each other.

music like it should be heard. Love the bass and John's interplay and vica versa. No room for any other instrumentation. Not on this one. Just let it be. Thank you for the upload into bliss.

There was that reportage on Mezzo TV about Jonas Hellborg, with interviews and stuff, and Hellborg told few things about McLaughlin. I have that thing recorded on VHS (pity i don't have possibility to get it onto my pc, cause it's a great thing), and he was quite warm for John. That may be McLaughlin's problem for the most :)

this kinda reminds me of his work with jaco, does anyone have a video of the Trio of Doom performance? the one with Tony Williams, Jaco, and John?

He meant which song of Jonas's is equivalent to Jaco's Portrait of Tracy, or Stanley's school days.

I was rolling a dark tobacco cigarette then I thought what can suit it ? This sequence in "Ohne Filter" of course ! Just like Ben Harper's "Burn one down" when smoking something else...

Has someone ripped the audio, 'cleaned' it up using 'Audacity' or some other sound-tools program, and re-dubbed the video? Sounds very good, except lack of synchronisation is a little bit of a bummer.

my only complaint about this video is that they had tina turner sitting around with them in the audience and they didn't make her sing along

I haven't heard about bad blood between JM and JH but to be honest I wouldn't be surprised. JM has fallen out with Billy Cobham, Jan Hammer (both unresolved after all these years) L.Shankar, John luc Ponty and Kai Eckhart at some point or other. He's said to be a great guy but is renowned for being stubborn as hell.
