I now have a 2020 GT500 but used to own a Redeye Challenger The Redeye felt larger and heavier and had less visibility (not as bad as the Camaro). Both sounded very different but equally good at WOT imo. The Redeye had more low-end grunt and punch; definitely faster off the line 60ft on a tire and prepped track, but traction limited on the street 1st-3rd gear (on factory all-seasons). The GT500 has much better visibility, broader powerband, faster overall acceleration especially top-end on the highway, can actually put the power down on factory tires, WAY better in the turns, brakes feel stronger as well. Both have a ton of potential in a straight line. The Redeye is clearly better suited for the drag strip and the GT500 has much more balanced overall performance and suited for road course. Both good for roll racing. I much more prefer the GT500, as it is the most satisfying car I've driven factory stock, it checks all the boxes for me and definitely more fun . The redeye was really good but needed a bit more for my taste. It also really comes down to if you want to drive a challenger or a mustang??

I was a Mopar enthusiast, until my oil had metal in it. So, I buy a Mustang GT Premium. I drive it out of the show room and into Service for a Roush Supercharger to be installed. From 480 to 700 hp. My sleeper Shelby. I just love it! There are so many “Go Fast Look Good” parts for Mustangs it is unlimited.

@@MA-is5hh MY NUMBERS, Smooth, Tesla Plaids have run as quick as 9.26/152 completely stock. I was just using 9.3 seconds for quarter mile times because you can go online and see them run 6 races in a row and have times all under 9.4 seconds for the quarter mile. So, unless your car consistently runs 9.2 seconds or less in the quarter mile, you will probably get beat.

I owned a 17 Charger Hellcat and recently I let that go and picked up the 2020 GT500. I do miss the SC whine driving the 500 but man, different beast, the handling the acceleration after 50MPH def feels great. I do agree that the hellcat might give you that pull at the start, esp with a dif brace and new tires. I would own two if I had the choice, just different beasts.

I do like my Roush mustang with the A10. With its weight advantage hellcats mightily struggle against it from a roll. But my next new car would be a redeye over the gt500. Just a beast and Ill be honest I love it and it’s a far better value. Nice Video and comparison

The hellcat seats can bolster around you also they have the air controls at the bottom side that help do the lumbar and it also inflate the side panels to lock you into the seat so yeah yeah

I might personally choose the Redeye (good god not in gold), as there's something to be said for driving around in a really fast version of my living room. The GT500 would be much more of a handling car, and I'm not really into that.

DCT is the difference and game changer for the 500. That's a great compliment because the 8 speed in the Redeye is one of the best.

A bit of a correction... the Challenger's trunk is nearly 3 C.F. larger than the Mustang's -- it's huge for a coupe.

It's simple for me. If you do track days, canyon driving and occasionally drag race the GT500 is the better car for you. If you want a good GT car that has room and can go low 9's in the 1/4 with minimal mods bit the Redeye. They are in the same price bracket but have different jobs.

Both of these cars are absolute beauts. I really dig the ability to switch exhaust notes in the Shelby. I may be late to the party but I wish Mopar offered that in the challenger/charger packages. I know the some of the newer Mopar packages have active exhaust but I don't know if it's to the degree that Ford does with the Mustangs.

I've gone from a 15' Mustang GT/PP to a Scat Pack Challenger back to a Mustang GT350....excluding the big horsepower from both the super charged versions in your review...to me the cars are so different in size, feel and sound...the mustang is a sports coupe and the challenger is a no excuse muscle car...two very different ways to achieve the ultimate smile...good luck trying to choose.

I haven't had the opportunity to drive a hellcat red eye yet. I have driven the original hellcat. We had a mustang shelby gt 500 in the shop. Got to help with the PDI . It didn't have enough milage on it to fully get on it. What I don't like about the car is the seats (I'm 6.3 and over 270lbs. ) And the fusion shifter design. At least make it look like a performance car with a shifter that has a handle on it. Like the red eye. The car does sound very good. But when I looked at the price on the rims and tires I was in shock. So if you buy one be prepared for new tires at each oil change if you drive it like it's supposed to be driven. And if you scratch the rim when changing a tire it won't be cheap to fix.

One thing I’d like to mention is when I bought my Redeye I was able to get 16k off the MSRP. The same can’t be said for the GT500. I don’t know a dealer in my area that wouldn’t charge 10k ADM just to order one. Was there an ADM on that Shelby GT500 @RacerX ? To me that’s the biggest problem with the GT500. That’s why I bought the Redeye WB.
