Helldivers 2 - Complete Mission Without Primary Weapon - Hold My Primary Trophy Guide (PS5)

In our third week of Helldivers 2 trophy guides we are starting off with a bit of a tougher trophy called "Hold My Primary, I'm Going In". For this trophy you need to complete a difficulty 5 (hard) or high mission without firing a primary or support weapon stratagem. The best method for this trophy is to complete a defend area mission and use a variety of airstrike and turret stratagems in order to complete the mission. It's also important to note that you can still use your grenades and pistols, if needed. It also helps to have at least one or two teammates to help you complete this trophy as you would have access to double or triple the amount of airstrikes and turrets. PSA: I recorded this video shortly after the launch of Helldivers 2 but after a recent update the "defend area" missions now require 2x as many kills, making them a lot longer. This doesn't really change the overall strategy it just makes completing the trophy a lot harder. Hope this clears up some confusion in the comments I've been reading!

I just did a blitz mission, just had to do 2 nests… ran it with the extra grenade armor …

From reading the comments this might be a little more easier than I thought because I have all i need to do this solo and plus I don't have friends playing because of how weird our schedules are.

Thanks, I was able to knock this is out the first time with a buddy. I never use gas or napalm, I was skeptical, but learned something new. I used napalm grenades, but I think stun grenades would've been better to keep the swarm grouped up for their extinction. The only things I would suggest are: - Use a stamina booster. - Walk whenever possible (to regenerate lost stamina). - Use default tactical armor (it's essentially heavy armor in a medium armor set). - Always check your gun before you fire. - Play with someone you trust.

if you have the reinforcement to spare, you could also leave the area and let the free orbital strikes take out some of the bugs before you die

Just done it on automaton planet. Feels much easier than bugs. Try to drop on a high rock if possible, then it's easy with mortars

I botched my runs so many times by dying... getting dropped back in, and then I started blastin' but I had my primary out

I did it by doing the close nest mission that is about 12 minutes long just jumped around with my jump jet throwing grenades and air strikes I got all the holes but a freaking stalker ripped my arm off as I was boarding the pelican still got it though and I will be doing it again this time I will not die is easier solo I don't trust my squad with not using primary p.s dont have a orbital laser in your hand when you get charged because that was my first death to this challenge.

I tried in solo you can do it with the astro Cerberus to clean the shit that follows you take also the engineering kit to get extra grenades

Does the guard rover count as a support weapon?

That an interesting question! I would probably guess that does it count because I believe every stratagem with a blue icon counts as a “support weapon”. But I’m not 100% sure on that so it would be worth testing to see!

Yeah it definitely has made most of these trophies way harder. I recorded the videos right when the game came out. Good news is this trophy doesn’t penalize you for dying so I would say it’s easier than some of the other tougher ones

Just run either sheild or rover backpack, ems mortar and either both mechs or pick one mech and your favourite orbital/eagle. So easy

Yes definitely because it only gives ammo. In this case I feel like the turrets will probably serve you better than extra ammo for your pistol though 🫡

Yes a recent update doubled the amount of kills required to complete the “defend area” missions. The strategy doesn’t really change it just makes it harder to complete. Hope that helps! 👍

just do a Blitz: Search and Destroy, as long as you destroy the required nests you dont even need to extract for it to be considered a mission success, as long as the main obj is complete without shooting you should get the achievement.

Try a blitz mission close 11 nest holes is easy if you have a jump jet and when you pop all the nests you don't have to make it out to evac would recommend mortars and two air strikes hope it helps.
