I sided with Ultric, not because I thought the Stormcloaks were better but because the Imperials just kidnapped me and tried to behead me for simply traveling the roads as a free man. So at that point my path was set, the Imperials declared war on me. It's not my fault they didn't know I was the dragon born and they made no attempt to pay for their gross misconduct. So they had to lose. It's just as simple as that.
