Viper Commandos has finally dropped, and despite a few gems, I'm a LITTLE disappointed. Despite liking most of it, there are some things I think need to be polished or are missing. Here's my review on the latest Helldivers 2 Warbond.

The Bushwhacker is 100% worth the price of admission. The thing is insane.

I see how it's fun but how is it worth the secondary slot? If you like shotguns you'll probably run a shotgun primary anyway, so what do you use the bushwacker for? It has less oveeall ammo, only 1-3 shots per reload (and thus far less dps) and is less accurate than any primary shotgun. And then there isalso the issue that it competes for a secondary slot with grenade pistol (aoe, can close spawners, more damage) and the revolver (more shots per reload). I think it's fun and cool, but I don't really see the usecase.

@@fredericosanchez9000 the use is when a hunter knocks you on the ground you get to show him what it's like to get hit with 3 shots of 10g simultaneously it also just pairs well with the tenderizer

@@fredericosanchez9000 I usually fight bots, and having a close-quarters weapon like that for berzerkers is absolutely worth the slot. Against bugs I can see the grenade pistol being more important.

Throwing knife makes me think the Engineering kit should be changed to %50 more grenades. Normal capacity is 4, so for most grenades it would still be +2 like it is now. But then knives would be +4, which would be much better. And if we ever got something that came with 6, it'd be +3 and so on. Anything with an odd number can just be rounded appropriately. Probably never happen, but I can dream.

it's just super underwhelming. bushwhacker and booster are the only good things in this warbond. definitely not worth $10 of super credits.

@@JacobKelley-vw1pw I agree but first of all I am Australian so $800 USD is $1,198.968 AUD and secondly I don't really want to go through the trouble and time of building a gaming PC and I also don't want one that makes people (especially my parents) think that I blew $1,198.968 + $59.95 just so I can game my life away. and even if i did get one the second they see it it'll be gone faster than you can say "Managed Democracy" Thank you

@@TheneedtoReid I understand, well then a ps5 is still an option anyways. If you build a PC yourself you will save a lot of money, and could buy it part by part for probably even under $800. Your best bet for now would probably be a ps5 though, you'd be able to game and still save a lot of money

If we get a faster firing liberator with the exact same damage and exact same mag capacity as the standard issue, that means we’ll be doing the exact same damage while having a harder time controlling our shots thanks to increased recoil and reloading more thanks to increased fire rate. Really, arrowhead?

Mfw motha fuckas don't realize the Carbine's DPS is greatly increased THANKS to that faster fire rate. Bro, I can shoot the gun arm off a heavy devastator while crouching in front of it, anyone complaining about the recoil has a skill issue or hasn't used the weapon for long enough

For the throwing knife, learning how to aim it is crucial and when you do it can become one of the best throwables in the game. I hope the armor penetration on a charger's leg isnt a bug since its seems like this is all its really useful for at the moment.

Its a bug, because somehow its ignoring its armour. The knives are a meme, mathematically speaking. 15 knives to kill cannon turrets. 3 to kill a brood commander. And you lose the ability to carry explosives, or stun, or set stuff aflame. All for what, a silent weapon that cant be picked up after being thrown?

All liberators +10-15 rounds in the mag. Carbine gets +20-25 and a bayonet, with a more damaging, slightly quicker melee attack. Throwing knifes also get a melee attack that does more damage than default. This gives synergy with the armor passive.

Yeah the idea was cool but the throwing knife has awful accuracy and damage and also the light armor is not very muscled also first

​@@CCA.C17.SQL.02Idot why note, it could be some high tech magic that takes out heavy targets or give player 30 knives to kill brood guardians and the other charging small bug, or even bile spewers, so you can rock light armor penetration weapon without being defenseles. You just lack imagination.

They have to stop balancing the weapons around the base liberator & realize its a beginner weapon. It can suck by itself and everything can be better. ARs have to be much better to take them over weapons much more suited for the same role in higher difficulty. Theres no reason to take them other than larping

The need to focus on how it feels to enjoy the gun rather than how to compare the guns. There's no real point to hardcore balance guns in a PvE.

I don't understand the idea that the starter weapon should be trash or sub par or whatever. That makes no sense. Surely the gun you start the game with should be a good weapon that is easy to use and versatile. Other weapons should be different types and side grades that fit into niches. Take PlanetSide 2 for instance, they start you off with one of the best if not THE best primary weapon for each class in each faction. Every subsequent weapon you purchase is a side grade in some way shape or form. This is good design as it let's new players utilize a powerful weapon that is easy to use and versatile so they don't feel gimped until they unlock something new, and can focus on learning the game. As they unlock other types of weapons and learn those they can form an idea of what they enjoy and select things based on that. I'm a firm believer that the liberator should be among the best weapons against both factions and the fact that it sucks when compared to almost every weapon you unlock in the base warbond is a horrible design decision if a design decision at all. For a PVE game equivalent rather than PVP, Warframe let's you choose between 3 starter Warframes. One is honestly kind of mid but he's the original face of the game so we keep him anyway. The other two are very powerful Warframes one of which is utilized in speed running all kinds of content and the other is a Warframe that can unironically carry you through every mission in the game and all the way to level cap with relative ease. Beginner weapons should be the dunning Kruger bell curve of new players use it because it's what they have and it gets the job done, mildly experienced players don't use it because they've got new stuff that does things more flashy or better in specific situations, and veteran players come back to use because it's the most well rounded or easy use option around while not necessarily being more powerful than other things.

Because fast top off loading of bushwacker. Shoot 1. Reload. Reload cancel by firing when ammo hits 3/3 shells. Shoot as fast as a pump shotgun with its 40 round of spare ammo.

Throwing knives should be a status effect injector (stun, burn, bleed etc) the damage could stay where it at.

The Liberators in general should be a 2 tap body kill instead of a 3 so that 2 bursts (6 bullets) isn't the average to kill a hunter. That's my only issue with the ARs right now. I'd use the carbine way more if it was 2 hit kill, since it feels very good to use in burst fire mode

@@goreobsessed2308 The secret is finding multiple viable strategies with different playstyles that achieve the same goals. One of my favorite loadouts for varied gameplay is gas strike, railgun, resupply, eats. It's not quite as powerful now that behemoth chargers are everywhere, but it's absolutely effective at handling just about anything the bugs can throw at you. Pair with tenderizer, grenade pistol, incendiary grenades, and medic armor + experimental stimms for maximum shenanigans.

I definitely agree on the point of the new Liberator having too little ammo. The Stalwart has the same Ammunition type as the Liberators and it has a 250 round box mag with an immense amount of extras. The Liberators need a much higher magazine capacity to be effective with their current damage value. There is a reason most people say the Stalwart is the best primary. It just make sense to take it with an Eruptor or something for demolition, as the Stalwart is so much better at chaff removal that assault rifles basically don't compete at all. Meanwhile the Eruptor definitely competes with demolition support weapons. At the very least there needs to be a distinct reason to take an AR over a shotgun. As of right now I think the Tenderizer does well, but it is not beginner friendly because it requires trigger discipline to not run out of ammo very quickly.

I personally had a ton of fun using Carbine in a Burst mode being ultra-agressive against bots and shooting hell out of those weak spots.

The fundamental issue with Warbonds in general is that 1-month is not long enough for a team the size of Arrowhead’s to create quality content that’s good looking and fun/functional. That being said, the Warbonds before had 3 new primaries, a secondary, a grenade and a booster. Only one of those primaries was ever any good (sickle, eruptor, pummeler) and the secondaries were always just ok. The throwables have been hit or miss. The boosters have been hit or miss. So on average we’ve gotten one good gun and one other useful item per warbond, on average. This warbond gives you that as well. Shotgun is goated, so is the booster imo; there’s your two items. Or swap the booster for the knives or carbine. Either way there’s really just about 2 good items here, same as the other Warbonds. So value wise, it’s about the same.

In my opinion, the skins are fine but they don’t make me buy the warbond. The main feature are still the weapons, the quality of which has to make up for the slots that the skins take up. For me, the Liberator and the Knife don’t really do that. The only thing i’m interested in is the bushwhacker, but I’m not spending 1k credits for that. Viper commandos is a more cosmetic warbond that’s not unique enough to change the gameplay. I’m not that into premium cosmetics so I’m not buying it. I just hope they make the coming warbond weapons stand out from the rest to make the warbond appealing

The infusion stim is REALLY powerful. Pair with medic armor, a grenade pistol, and the supply pack. You can sprint across the map at mach 5 with just a little bit of self damage. Super samples will be at evac in record time.

considering the scope of the overall patch, they went above and beyond giving us a warbond as well and it was different. I like the creativity, outside the box thinking and this warbond tells me that not all future content will be tools for the field, which is OK.

Only issue I have with the carbine is that it needs a bigger mag. Have it come with 50 round mags and round its mags to 8. This wouldn’t make it too crazy but would allow players to spray and pray a little more. Only thing with this new format I don’t like is that there isn’t a second primary weapon. If they added just one more gun the new warbond format would be perfect.

I have embraced BIG BIFFY KILLA GORILLA armour from the super store and run it with Predator beret helmet. Looks soooo good. For me this warbond is about LARPing the ultimate jungle beefcake so I am unlocking cosmetics.

12:00 I have been in one of these situations and I got stomped by a charger only taking like a quarter health which was instantly healed I’m pretty sure charger stomps one shot but not sure and I haven’t been stomped by a bile titan so I don’t know if you can survive that

Bike titans are incapable of stomping on account of their dreaded wheels. This is explained during day 2 of your helldiver intiation training. ... You did attend that seminar, right? Bile titans however, can stomp. And.. hypothetically you can survive if the game glitches? But the leg is basically hardcoded to kill you on contact if it's moving, even if you walked into it rather than it moving into you. This is why bile titan corpses are so deadly - the slightest jitter and you go from climbing the body to being the next case example of General Brasch's textbook examples of 'What Not To Do' while liberating our enemies.

I enjoyed the weapons. The carbine is fun but needs to be paired with something that hits medium targets like an autocannon or gl. Its good for panic firing. The bushwacker is great. The knife is decent for stealth play.

Real talk. How Dope would it be if the Knife was some kinda Heated Blade that can deal Massive Dmg with Melee Attacks when directly holding them. Thrown knives being able to Pierce Medium Armor and Strip Heavy Armor. The Limited knives meaning you get a few good heavy kills and then still have one left over decent Melee option

Carbine is close quarters and add clear, as such it pairs good with a heavier support weapon. The primary is not supposed to do everything, if the carbine took large enemies out then what’s the point of support weapons. Primary, secondary, throwable, support weapons and other Strats should all complement each other. Don’t get me wrong, you take what you want but to call a weapon not amazing because it doesn’t do all is just silly. If you bring a carbine, bushwhacker, throwing knife and stalwart you will have a hard time with anything over a warrior/devastator.

it is very useful passive wise secondary is also good for bugs armor passive is meh but cosmetically looks great and primary is just a better liberator for bugs good but not meta by any means but useable for getting hunters off you tho not nearly as good as the sickle or breaker incendiary

If you actually purchased using money... sure hold off but the booster is worrh it. Since you dont have to use money and grind enough its not a problem to get and very enjoyable. If you started out just recently and have money to burn or just earned super credits from in game then acquire steeled veterens or the electric warbond..

Feel like the war bond was half finished when they switched gears and put in the player title and vehicle camo to fill slots and make it more thematic. Knife was never going to be amazing but making it so you can pick them back up will help a lot, also able to melee with it. Carbine is alright but it is just a Liberator variant even with the overall AR boost. Secondary is where it's at because it's what you'd expect from a secondary shotgun. Haven't gotten to the booster yet myself but there's debates on if the armor passives are actually working. More so the thing weapon handling and less about increasing melee damage. The war bond itself was never going to be amazing but it is a step in a the right direction. Let me put it this way, I'm going out of my way to unlock everything in this war bond rather than unlocking what I want and then reluctantly getting whatever is left cause I'm almost at medal cap and there's still things to buy. There's still helmets, capes, and player cards in the free war bond I still haven't gotten yet.

For subsequent warbonds, especially since they said they're going to come out slower to make sure things work right, if they're going to be keeping the extra cosmetics taking up slots they should do slightly more expensive warbonds with 5 pages instead of 3. Same number of weapons and what not or at least functional items as old warbonds, more cosmetics 50% increased price. This warbond will likely never be worth the price for me, and even when I have the credits im probably not going to buy it. The only thing I want is the booster. Cosmetics are only as good as they are usable and the armor passive doesn't compare to the ones I use right now, unless they release or I start using different less ergonomic weapons. The other cosmetics (excluding helmets) and title etc are absolute passes for me, things I wouldn't even grind 2 missions for let alone enough for let alone the 1000 super credits it asks of me. I'd rather purchase every other warbond first and then sit on supers for the next warbond, praying that it's good. Personally if they keep down the path of this warbond while slowing down the pace (Ie. 3 weapons, 1 booster, a bunch of random cosmetics, every 2 months instead of 1.) I'm going to lose interest in this game. The core gameplay loop can only keep you interested for so long before it becomes monotonous and monotony turns to frustration very quickly. The only thing to keep me playing at that point would be major orders that actually matter towards giving me something or large content drops and they honestly seem pretty averse to that as it seems. Maybe i put too high of expectations on the game, especially since it's way too buggy to justify releasing regular content in the first place. It just feels like the game is looking for a consistent player base with how the major orders are set up but the release cadence going forward seems to cater more towards seasonal play. Idk, I just think the game is being handled in not the best of ways and though the devs clearly have their heart in the right place, it feels like never ending stumbling. I'm glad a lot of people think the last patch was great and all, but to me it was about 4 steps Forward and 4 steps right back to where they were.

The armor is good if you're using the HMG. That's about it. The red beret helmet fits wonderfully with light medic armor. The experimental infusion is very. Very nice. Use a grenade pistol and you can literally pop a movement speed up on demand just by lightly injuring yourself. On bots you'll basically always have it up. The test of conviction is a nice alternative to the hug emote, but probably wont replace it for most players. The weapons, though.. I mean.. the liberator carbine is just a worse liberator. If it had a bigger mag size but less total mags it'd probably be better. The knives are disappointing, on account of not being able to pick them up after throwing them.

to a degree, i enjoyed it. I enjoy this new perk and been raking in kills with this Carbine they put out... who'd knew high rate of fire, better handling paired with Better handling armor passive would be so great, i'm out shooting and killing incendiary breaker meta players by 6:2. No joke.

In my humble opinion they should take two months to release warbonds, not only would it allow more time to grind SC, but also have more time to implement new stuff. More time for the devs = more time to properly balance the content and fix what's broken

The carbine has the same clip size issue, ARs should have at least 40/45 bullets not 30/35. The armor passive is a waste, 30% melee dmg is ok if we had melee weapons, but throwing a knife to 20 enemies coming at you is not something i would want to do, even less with the bots that have their aim mega improved 🤭, the design is awesome tho.

The armor's passive is primarily that increase to weapon handling. It makes things like the heavy machine gun a LOT more responsive and controllable. The melee damage is.. ... The problem with melee damage is you're relying on weakspot hits with an animation you can't really control. If you dont hit a weakspot, +30% on, let's say, 5 is still only 6.5.

10 dollars 😂 I haven’t spent a dime on this game except for purchasing the game itself lol just play the game on medium for a week and you’ll get 1000 super credits from searhing loot stashes so EASY that’s why I love this game

Watching people kill Chargers with a throwing knife while I dance around them with a 50 Cal HMG for a weakspot shot.........da hell Arrowhead? Your game code is spaghetti and you do MORE damage with rockets if you walk forward when shooting because of damage fall off/momentum lol

Easy, I do like your videos, but what you have said about the Liberator Carbine and the Normal Liberator has confused me and made me think that, well, you.. don't really know what the damage numbers on the liberators are? Since the Carbine and Lib are the same with the exception of sight, lighter frame, firerate, and recoil. It took me back hearing you say that it'd take 3-4 bullets to kill small bugs and bots (scavengers and raiders) and 8 or more for things like Warriors for bugs. Devastators are tanky for them, but with the durable damage increase does allow you to chew them in half fairly quickly at the unarmored midsection But as for what I was saying about the small bugs/bots is that, most often the Liberators are capable of from Scavs up to Hunters in 2 bullets, 3 on hunters if you are unlucky with where you hit. Warriors heads will pop in 2 if you're within 70-80 meters of them, beyond that its a full 3 round burst. Raiders generally have a differing TTK depending if it's a MG raider, a Commisar, or the rest of the pack, but still should be within 3 bullets unless you're unlucky and hit and arm off, flinching them out of the way of the rest. But that is the thing, your numbers to kill were kinda wild, and not actually covering the enemies the guns struggle to kill. While it's definitely a situational use, the Carbine and Liberator both benefit from use of the burst fire, especially thr Carbine, as so long as you keep clicking you can essentially maintain it's full fire rate while ensuring you have full control. Failing that, in both cases burst fire still serves a seperate purpose for each gun. Carbine is allowed to perform a more admirable job at mid-range engagements where full auto is less comfortable without the recoil reducing passives. And the regular liberator, due to it's scopes, high accuracy, and lack of damage falloff at ranges exceeding 100 meters, it is able to serve as both assault rifle and marksman carbine in a similar vein to the Halo Battle Rifle. Full auto still lets it chew through most medium-sized enemies, and medium armored ones should you aim for the armor gaps (and not even the serious ones like devastator faces, more like their midsection like i mentioned earlier) Also, something to know with the melee increase of peak physique. Our melee attack does roughly 50 damage normally, so the buff brings us up tp 75, equal in damage to a shot from the Peacemaker starting pistol. Sadly, this is why it feels so underwhelming. As someone who likes using the peacemaker, I know well that Scavengers, Hunters, and small Bots can survive more than one shot unless you are able to hit what deals the most damage typically. Bots if you hit the leg/waist/stomach/head. Center torso normally kills too, but sometimes you hit a shoulder instead and they live. And Scavengers, it is an odd mix where i'm unsure if it is due to momentum "bug" where moving forward adds 1 damage which is typically taken away when a gun is shot, or if they simply have something like 80 health to avoid allowing the starter pistol one shotting them. Which is a decision that seems not very smart, as switching to your secondary to deal with small and fragile threats to conserve ammo for your longer range, harder hitting, bigger mag primary. But, hitting the legs, head, and butt are always a kill. Anything but the armor shell they have is if i'm not mistaken. The problem is that, regardless of Peak Physique or not, the player killing Scavengers melee is totally unaffected! The normal 50 damage will not kill to the body but breaks legs and the head for an instant kill, so the damage boost is entirely moot against the small melee enemies that it could have made striking more consistent against, as regardless of passive or not your kill depends on either luck or an attempt at an aimed swing to hit any of the 3 areas that will let you instantly crush them regardless.

Ok. I didnt read all that but there are some glaring errors with what youve said. 1) chaffs on bug sides have 80 total health. It takes 2 body shot from any liberator and their variants to kill them. However, headshots kill them in 1. Hunters have 130 health so they will die in 3 shots to the body, but their head only has 40 hp so they WILL die to one shot from the lib. 2) the durable damage buff do NOTHING for chaffs. Small bugs up to broodcommanders DO NOT HAVE ANY DURABLE PARTS. Whereever you heard it from, its BS and nothing more.

@@sturmmagnunstein1008 Thank you for telling me this, I was actually really mad not knowing the exact values of health for those literal buggers. Though hitting their legs with melee or a liberator shot also seems to do enough damage to kill them. And shooting the unarmored rear of their body from what I can tell is also consistent, as it normall pops it off of them and they drop instantly. Hunters I swear I have gotten in 2, but it must have been lucky headshots when I was tap firing at them. I did notice it was inconsistent, but with this knowledge i'm keeping that liberator of mine on burst. And as for the durable damage, I think I have to disagree for one reason. And normally I wouldn't because you are very well informed and was able to correct me on a generalized idea of how tough the enemies were that i've formed mostly from my own time fighting and looking for where is best to shoot. But the big glaring one is tbe Diligence, the normal one not the CS. Before patch .400 the Diligence couldn't break Terminid Warrior heads in one bullet, I switched to the CS against them for that exact reason. But after it's durable damage increase, it now pops the head in one. And similarly, the Liberator which used to take a full 3 round burst unless you were sub 10 meters can now do it with 2 bullets out to 60.

Pace your shots better, crouch or lay down, use short-long bursts, you need to remember you are holding a faster firing liberator, it has the same damage, so it only takes one or two shots to take out most small enemies, hell even medium enemies die when sprayed with the Carbine

When the game first came out it was great. Since it was a live service PvE I thought we wouldn’t be getting nerfs buffs and stupid shit like that. I understand for a PvP game sure, but PvE? It makes no sense. The game isn’t nearly as fun as it was. They really shot themself in the foot with this one. This could’ve been so much better. Put a forging/customs system like halo 3 so you can play with radons and your boys in mini games in maps players created. Let us customize our capes/armor how we want to how black ops had their customization thing. Put new maps lol! Everything looks exactly the same.

What’s with people saying the game was better and more fun on release? That’s some absolute waffle the game on release was horrible it was so unbalanced 90% of the players ran the same loadout railgun, shield, orbital laser, and 500kg . chargers didn’t have their heads as weak points so you’d have to strip the legs or spend 5 minutes shooting at the back and all people ran the braker and redeemer with impacts it was horrible

I think that expecting a game to be just as fun 4 months after launch as it was at launch is a bit optimistic. It’s not new to you anymore, the honeymoon period is over. Of course it’s not the same level of excitement. That being said, Arrowhead makes the games they want to make and if you enjoy it great, if not, don’t worry about it. Grab something else and get at it :)

@@CCA.C17.SQL.02IdotI feel that in a lot of ways, Helldivers 2 was made for people in their 30s or so. You have to have a bit more patience and be willing to look for the subtleties and try out different strategies. Nothing is given to you on a silver platter, you’ve gotta figure things out. But if you put the time and energy in, it’s so worth it, it’s extremely rewarding. I don’t think younger audiences have the patience for it. I think CoD and Fortnite and other in-your-face games like that are probably better suited for those players.
