I'm so glad the Muslim woman came on this show~~ I really do hope she's treated better including her children, and that this opens more people's eyes in Korea that's aren't so open minded. From my personal experience being in Korea for a week and as a hijabi, i had the most fantastic and amazing time of my life! People were suuuuper friendly towards me and so welcoming! I absolutely loved it over there and can't wait to go back in the future~~ But back to this lady, she lives there and encounters way more people so yeah, she's bound to come across mean people! Hope it gets better for you lady~~ Also, gotta add....i found it pretty hilarious how she thought Korea was gonna be like what she saw in drama's...in the wise words of Key "Everything you see on TV is a lie" hahaha! The 2nd guy is sooooooooooooo adorable!!! "People with big hands" BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!!!

Shawol92 That's good to hear! I like positivity, and I also feel that since she is going through depression she feels like she's being targeted more and when you have depression/anxiety, you feel as if you're being judged for every little thing when that's actually in the head, l have depression/anxiety and totally understand how she feels but she really needs to stop thinking about what other people think of her. She needs to stay strong for her children.

@@r0dh4 as mentioned before, just visiting for a week or two is super fun. a lot of people think that dramas are how people really live in korea and if that's the case you're going to be dissapointed. you have racism everywhere and korea is no different. i don't recommended relocating to korea if you're already living good. unless it's for business reason or you're married to a korean man or woman who wants to return to her country. the world is no drama and living in korea as a foreigner without any friends, family or money is a very big challenge.

Park Joon, thank you so much for your input! Look at people as ... People. Don't worry about their skin color, their religion, their sexuality, or the stereotype their race is associated with. Everyone is different and has been through a struggle, some harder than others. You never know what they have been through. Don't discriminate, don't be prejudiced, don't be racist. Be accepting...

Mary M. It's not only Muslims that get discriminated. I have experienced what you have gone through as a Korean in America. In Elementary School, nobody wanted to hang out with me because I was different from them. You just need to find people who are willing to accept you for your differences. Because as I got older, I was able to find people who were able to embrace me for who I am.

they might be smart when it comes to science, but they have lack in education when it comes to geography with lands and races , lack in religion which affected their judging when it comes to the terms of (physical look , disability) they think being ugly or disable means you've been bad in a previous life , or the person's fault which is not , or blame their parents and their genes , it's god's creation that's all and we should embrace it ... even the lack of religion affected their social manners with people , i feel like they have a huge gap in their education system because life is not only math , physics and electronics . but not all korean are like that ...whereever we go there's good and bad.

I live in England, and thankfully I have never experienced discrimination. I honestly believe that England is a lot better than most Countries when it comes to how they treat Muslims. People are not outwardly racist to you, they might not like you/hate you but they are still careful in how they express their dislike. Unlike in other European countries and USA. I really felt for her, I cried, thinking to myself if anyone treated me that way, or any member of my family, I don't know what I would do.

Something I hear a lot on Korean shows. "Men shouldn't do that" "You're a man, you shouldn't be like that" Jesus, why are people so concerned with other people's business. Are men aloud to do anything. "Oh I shouldn't do origami, it's not "manly" like I didn't realize you had to be a certain gender to enjoy some things. The stereotypical standards in Korea, in the world really, have got to go. No one can enjoy anything anymore because people are so nosy and are stuck in the 50s.

Cultural things. And you by saying this u r being exactly the same as those people. Mind your own culture. If you don't know the entirety of the country, do not paint the whole country with one brush. No body assumes the US is a shithole because they watched Jerry Springer's show. Though, Fox news does make me believe some americas are still stuck in 1930s wild west days.

@@tingle2323 I can’t believe I’m replying to a comment 4 years later 😂 I’m glad we get to know these issues, it’s great to bring them to light of course! But from a show called Hello ‘Counselor’, they should be hearing these issues with open hearts and open minds, not reprimanding or mocking their guests for being who they are. I’m not being nosy, I just give a crap about this toxic mindset that can negatively affect someone’s mental health and how they see themselves. Yes I don’t like it, because it’s wrong. Call me nosy, sure, but it’s still messed up.

Advice from a person with depression: Learn to seek out the few people who won't judge you for how you look or act instead of trying to stay near those who are quick to judge. And if you can't get out of that kind of environment your in control of your own feelings. They may try to put you down, they may even succeed sometimes but it will never be for long because you are inevitably stronger then them.

My mom has a strong temper and my dad is pretty calm, she nagged a bit more than him and she worked till late and traveled a lot for work so I didn't see her as much as my dad so when I was little I always thought that my mom was mean to my dad whenever they were discussing or something. I took my dad's side and while I wasn't mean to my mom I was nicer to my dad. But once I went abroad as an exchange student (I was like 10) and I realized how much my mom meant for me. She sacrificed herself so much for me and she never complained, I have so many memories when my mom did so much for me and I took it for granted... I cried a lot then and called her every night and told her that I was sorry. My mom is really the most admirable person that I know and I cry every time I remember that I made her feel like that. He will regret it like crazy later, I hope he realize this when her mother is still with him.

I will NEVER understand the individuals in this world that are racist, prejudice, narrow-minded, misogynist and/or bigots. I cannot comprehend how you can look at another human being and simply hate the person because of race, gender, sexual orientation, nationality or religion. People have read books and articles, witnessed events or maybe watched films depicting how people were and are taunted, abused, tortured and killed simply because of hate. Heck... some of the very people displaying these small-minded acts have been victims themselves; and yet, here we are in 2016 and this is still an issue around the world. Makes no damn sense.

Discrimination: this is why when i have kids i wont raise them in a homogeneous society because i dont want them to feel like an outsider or be bullied for their differences, i dont want them to self loath or develop psychological problems. i find it a bit weird why some people decide to raise their (mixed or different race) kids in homogeneous countries where they are clearly different and most likely will be bullied for it. as much as i love korea and wanna live there, i wouldnt bring up my kids there(even if they were half korean), i was raised in the UK surrounded by diversity and in the future i'll do the same for my children

But it makes you stronger and wiser, you'll have to deal with this kind of discrimination sooner or later, studying aboard, foreign workspace and colleagues or just simply travel, it's better off knowing how to live deal and live with it sooner than later. I don't really blame my parents for raising me up in a foreign country considering my alternative option would've been. Also people who have a multicultural background are also more open minded and I really do wish there were more of us :D

wow, the 2nd concern guy, even after all the mistreatment he has gone through just because he doesn't fit what society expects how a "man" should act/behave,sound like still has a big enough heart to have kind words to say to others. You can't really judge a book by its cover. He may seem effeminate in his demeanor, way of speaking, hobby but he's not less of a man for them. Kudos for him to be able to easily smile after all that.

waaaaw !!! that is just sad , dick people exist everywhere , you should stay strong and fight for your own self , don't let depression takes over you , you did nothing wrong , they are the one with the mental issues ...as a muslim girl i tell you this, we're been taught in school since childhood , there's no difference between human beings at all we're all the creactions of god , except for one thing , the work for god , i mean how much you're willing to work for god , for example if you study hard and help society that's a work for god and considered a prayer for god , if you put a smile on a child's face that's a prayer for god , if you take care of your family , if you take care of your neighbor , visit sick peoples , give charity , smile in the face of other people considered a charity and god will price you for it , you remove a twig or a rock from a road so you could make people's lives easier that's a prayer to god , ....etc . a prayer doesn't mean you should isolate your self in a temple , a church or a mosque and pray 24/24 hours 7 days , no that's totally wrong , because with that we becomes a handicap to society , that's why god said whatever behavior improves your self , your family and you society should be taken as a prayer only if you intended to do for the sake of god first . in the end this is hadith by our prophet Muhammed peace be upon him we learned it when we were children in primary school and it was the highlight for us as childran not to discriminate against any human being , we're all equals and i wish that every school in the world teaches their children since youth this Hadith , because the key to get a society without racism is to grow the awareness of the ugliness of this bad trait in children , because everything we absorb in our minds when we're young make a huge impact on us as we grow . The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), during his Last Sermon in Minâ, said: “O people! Your Lord is one Lord, and you all share the same father. There is no preference for Arabs over non-Arabs, nor for non-Arabs over Arabs. Neither is their preference for white people over black people, nor for black people over white people. Preference is only through righteousness.” Then he said: “Have I conveyed the message?” and the people declared that he had. so the only difference between humans is by piety . so stay strong and raise your head up high ...all love and happiness to you Yuki.

I think the people who watch this show need to realize that there is so much more that goes on behind the scenes: 1. This show is known for its manipulative editing. One example that I remember is an episode with Shinhwa (search Hello Counsellor Shinhwa, and its the ep from 2013), and there was a segment with a girl who was large, so her Mom was basically starving her, letting her only eat sweet potatoes at home. In the aired episode, it looked like Kim Dongwan said "well she isn't skinny", implying that he thought what the Mom was doing was right. BUT, it was later revealed that him speaking had been edited; he actually spent a good 10 minutes explaining the dangers of extreme dieting, and healthier ways the daughter could lose weight without starving herself, etc. But the editors cut all that out, and kept the part where he said she wasn't skinny. 2. None of the hosts are actual counsellors. They have their own ideals and prejudices that come with being brought up in a conservative Korean society (e.g men should be like this, women should do that . . .). The purpose of the show, while partly to show bad cases of people fucking up, is also to be entertaining. Thats why when there are super serious concerns (racism, sexism, homophobia, etc), the hosts are awkward with handling them because the show is supposed to generally be lighthearted. They can't spend all day arguing with a narcissistic prick, so they eventually have to end the segment whichever way possible. It isn't right, and I would love to see a more serious version of this show, but I think that in general they handle things pretty well.

About the first & secon con: I know exactly how it feels. I´m from a country called Kyrgystan (there everybody speaks russian) and I moved to germany when I was 10-ish. I learned german really quick but I have a very very big accent..everybody used to make fun about it so I got insecure about talking. he worst part, when I went back to Kyrgystan, the same thing happened to me there. Because I was so long in germany I also had a little acent when I spoke russia so everybody thought of me as a misfit and a outsider. Alot people ignored me in both countrys, didn´t want to talk or cursed at me just because the way I talked. Now I´m back in germany and luckly the people here got friendlier (I guess?). I started to talk more and realised I dont need the recognition of other people, just the opinion of my friends and familiy about me mattered.. Both, the woman of the first and the man of the second concern are very very strong people. (: I wish them both luck and happines in their lives

there are discrimanation in every country but what starled me was,in Korea most people tend to be more blunt and express their opinion on others loudly without thinking that other party can hear or see from your expression. even in korean show and programms they comment freely one someone's appearance or looks. the ahjusis and ahjumas are scary ones. they think they are entitled to say ehats on their mind.

the first worry made me cry. I hate to see anybody being discriminated against. We are all human and deserve to be treated the same way. I personally don't know any muslims but my heart went out to this lady. I know what its like to be discriminated against which is why this worry got to me. When i was little my first language was spanish but as soon as i entered school i remember a lot of the kids in class telling me to learn english and making fun of me for only knowing spanish. Even the teacher would'nt allow me to speak in spanish because of this i became really anti social at a really young age. It even lead me to stop talking at home. I know plenty of people go through worst things which worries me since this is something that effected me in such a young age i hate to think of the ways discrimination can effect others. You can be an evil or nice person but that isnt determined by your race. People like to judge a group of people based off bad examples. A few people don't define a whole race.

I sympathize with her greatly; i even teared up when she started crying :( I'm so happy Joonhyung was there too because he could show his own experiences with discrimination as well. My only issue is why is it that when the two black men went on the show talking about racism in korea, they said it wasn't a concern and that they would basically learn to get over it if they ignore it? Is it because they're men and they think they should be tougher or something else, because i thought their issues were definitely concerns too.

Like its awesome that they have a good relationship and no lie I would love to have someone always be on my side in arguments but its not right that the son kind of disrespects his mom and makes her feel unloved when I'm sure that's not his intentions. Park Joonhyung, Its so nice that your there esp when the topic is about discrimination. You can sympathize them bcs you know what it feels like to be discriminated. You can give them a REAL good advice. Unlike those other celebrity that also recieve discrimination, but they still think its not a worry and said that the discrimination they recieve will just "pass by". [lol how can they said it when they also recieve the same treat. The memories and wound from their heart will always be there. You know what will happen next if they not already handle those stress/trauma from being discriminated] I like the one that Joonhyung quoted about ".... What matters is how a HUMAN treats one another"

So you don't want to go there because there are people (just like anywhere else honestly) who discriminate? I've been to many Countries and have stayed there for short or long periods and If you don't want to experience any of it then just don't travel to places that's vastly different in culture. Heck, I feel a little discriminated even when I'm with my own "kind" in either the Philippines or the U.S. (I'm Filipino-American by blood and nationality) just a little difference can make you a target of any kind of discrimination. And may I remind you that Korea isn't exactly the most culturally diverse place in terms of ethnicity (it is still very common for Koreans to believe that a Korean must marry a Korean and live in Korea.)so to them It's VERY strange to see people who look different. Can't really blame ALL Koreans for those people who do discriminate. It's something the whole world does, though some specific places who aren't exposed to cultural diversity as mush as others are more extreme. Yes. it's very sad. But true. P.S. Glad that you're proud of what and who you are! I'm proud of myself too :)

(DON’T JUDGE A BOOK BY IT’S COVER) This ALL started because of MEDIA. I experienced the same when I went to Korea a few months ago as a tourist. Lots of Korean people in streets or subway asked me whether I'm terrorist or from ISIS! Just because I was wearing Hijab. But I was smiling when I was explaining to them the fact that we’re not terrorists, and ISIS is 100% not related to Islam. Those people started to understand that fact and lots of them told me and my family that we have pretty and smiley faces. So they could be understanding if you explain, but at the end, I think they should have respect to others beliefs AT LEAST. (PS .. I speak Korean almost fluently so I was able to communicate with them)

S. Korea still has a lot they need to change society wise, I think they've made more progress in last 10-15 years, but the country overall still has some work to do and properly educate themselves on all cultures & religions not just in Asia continent, but the world. Proper education on African continent would also be very influential start, because it saddens me to hear so much ignorance about Africa that is simply not true. Proper education brings more knowledge about different people's background, and if you know their story you won't be so quick to have a social intolerance against them. I hope and pray to see Korea improve on these matters.

Park joonhyung looks younger than when he did when he debuted😂 they should also put him on this show more often because not only could they get an opinion from someone born in the US but also because he really says a lot of helpful things through experience and also because he’s funny

YoonMin I think boys like that are cute. But the guys I like who act a bit "feminine" don't have a high voice. Still though, that guy was cute as heck!
