i missed my babygirl solas so bad its crazy !! he looks and sounds so good, and i cant wait for this game, even though i have a feeling i will break me. i just need my solavellan reunion and AT LEAST a bittersweet ending to their story, and hopefully a good ending. have a feeling ill be romancing lucanis (i love him already) or bellara (i love her already too) but all the companions sound and look amazing.

They did all the "chasing" in the books and comics. This game starts 9 years after DAI. So for 9 years they have been hunting Solas. The devs said that wanted this game to start with an epic showdown, and they gave it to us. My only real issue is that there is a rumor the devs CUT a part of Varric's confrontation with Solas, and that in that interim...he killed Varric. And looking back at it, when you see Solas looking down the stairs and then turning around to see the Evanuris in the tear... YOU DONT SEE VARRIC anywhere.

It does make sense, Varric's getting older and I don't see them making him a companion three games in a row. Him dying in the opening is a good way of writing him out. Plus the last thing he says to Rook is asking him to take care of the others. It feels final.

I dont think he did cause Varric is there up until Solas catches the falling statue. Pretty sure he just ran down the steps. Not seeing the place where he would kill Varric and or why. Maybe one of the other gods being released do?

@@fungusmoon well I suppose you're right about having two character creators for the Warden and Hawke when they already got two for Rook and the Inquisitor wouldn't make no sense. But I don't think that either Hawke or the Warden is dead at this point. Unless of course if the Warden died during the battle of Denerim which is by his/her choice or from the Calling and Hawke died in the Fade which is by the Inquisitor's choice. I imagine that the Warden had founded a way to cure himself of the Calling like Fiona did and retired from the Grey Wardens and Hawke survived the Fade and living in Kirkwall.

@@adrianharrell87 yeah, that’s the point I’m making. For *some* players, their Warden and/or Hawke are dead. Allowing people to customise their Inquisitor makes sense, because everyone’s Inquisitor is alive. But everyone’s world state/canon is different with regards to the Warden and Hawke. Not everyone has a living Warden or Hawke. They’d be putting in loads of effort for something (not just the customisation but the animation and voice lines and possibly even a plot) that only half of the players are going to need.

I found out that one of the backstories you can pick for Rook is a Grey Warden. It’s been soo long since we last played as one. No offense to Hawke and The Inquisitor, but I have a soft spot for the wardens.

I discovered you via your DA: Inquisition playthrough, and as a fellow Solasmancer I'm soooo hyped to see you reacting to this gameplay! I can't blame you for this - because HELLO Solas looks absolutely amazing and it's been so long! - but I think you may have missed what looks to be two of the Evanuris breaking out of their prison at the end there. The same two whose statues were knocked down perhaps? Did Rook and the others inadvertently wreck Solas' "precautions" that he mentioned, and now they're also partly responsibile? SO MANY QUESTIONS. And what does that mean for Solas? The Evanuris will surely want revenge on him for tricking and imprisoning them in the first place, so does that mean Solas could even help the Veilguard in taking them down? It's also been confirmed that we can create our Inky in the CC alongside Rook (HYPE!) so maybe they could act as an advisor or something? I'm also scared because, we know what Bioware are like. What if the Evanuris are going to use or kill the Inquisitor to break Solas? The angst potential there is huge... "People are always dying... it's what they do." - This line hits extra hard when you remember that Solas unintentionally took away the ancient elves' immortality when he created the veil. The way Gareth delivered the line sounded like more of a lament than anything. I'm so excited to hear him work as Solas again, he does an amazing job

Yeah I think Bioware missed the mark with the first trailer - I’m not sure who was in charge of putting that together lol. It was very “Marvel-y” which doesn’t fit for Dragon Age. It got a LOT of criticism when it dropped last week. But I was VERY impressed with the gameplay trailer, and I think that it eased a lot of peoples’ concerns. Either way if it’s good or not, I’m gonna play the whole thing when it comes out lmao. Also, here is my theory for Solas’ role in the rest of the game: the statues that Rook messed up were what was preventing the Evanuris from breaking free, and the two entities we see behind Solas in the fade correspond to the Evanuris statues that Rook knocked over. So the two Evanuris will wreak havoc on Thedas and also do whatever they can to try and free the remaining elven gods, and Rook will end up being the reason why (making them kind of a foil to Solas). I think that a.) Varric may sacrifice himself to save Solas just as the Evanuris are about to get him, which will really move Solas and get him to join the Veilguard to help fix the issue, or b.) he’ll just join the Veilguard regardless to help fix things (and hopefully Varric doesn’t die). Either way, I think Solas will end up being on our side somehow, which is how he’ll end up reuniting with Inquisitor Lavellan (and possibly getting a redemption arc/back together with her). We know that you can customize your Inquisitor at the beginning of the game along with your Rook, so the Inquisitor is definitely going to play a significant role in the game! Also I’m so freaking excited because there are supposed to be face & body sliders, the option to be nonbinary, and all romanceable companions are pan and not limited to race/gender!!! 😭

I’ve come to accept that Dragon Age will never be like Origins again which is my favorite of the series personally, most of the people who worked on Origins aren’t even there anymore so there’s no point hoping for something that wouldn’t even be done the same way with the current team so I am cautiously optimistic about this title, based on what I’ve seen from the small gameplay they showed it feels a lot like Mass Effect with the powers wheel, dialogue wheel etc which I mean coming from me that’s not a bad thing but dragon age did have its own identity in the past and I loved it for what it was. I’m hoping the story is what’s gonna carry this for me and the gameplay will be serviceable and if I want my dragon age origins in 2024 I can just play BG3 :) BG3 really raised the bar tho when it comes to romances and companions so I’m hoping this game has at least half the memorable characters BG3 has
